Nice. My garages going to be about 2.5 meters by 5 meters, I wanted a bigger one, but I want the outdoor space to work on my cars. I've built the base now, not perfect but will do the job, I'll take the slabs back up tomorrow and sand and cement them in nice and level. Once that's done, I've hopefully got somone to come and cut the tree down a bit, then I can get on with building the garage.

Is that with delivery? Our 40 mm crushed hardcore is around 15 per ton plus delivery. I can't find anything that cheap around here. It always just comes up with type 1. £124 delivery for three tonnes. I'll have to have another look. One thing i would say is don't forget to add a damp proof membrane on the floor. Basically plastic sheeting. This will stop any water seeping from below. I built a double garage by myself and yes it takes an awful long time but its a great learning curve. However taking your time now and thinking about what you are doing will benefit you hugely later on. don't rush it, once its up and built you CANT go back. Take your time. Yeah I've got a big sheet I'll use, didn't do anything there today, will crack on tomorrow. I don't want to piddle on your party or anything, but I speak from experience. Be very careful buying sheds etc from eBay, I bought a large shed for my baseball club from there and the rubbish that arrived took weeks of work for us to make useable, same with a metal shed that cost me loads and was so bad that I threw it away before finished building it. Far better off looking for sectionals and modifying to your size/shape. Really enjoying watching your build, I just wish i had the access and space o do the same. Yeah I think I'm going to build my own garage out of wood, I only want something to keep the rain off so doesn't need to be amazing. If I build it myself, I can easily extend it or modify it in the future. Hopefully it'll take shape over the next week or two. Also found an e type jaguar

This is the mess I've made. Bits of garage and metal from the garage door hammered into the ground to keep it supported. I need to add more supports though. Filled the side with all the broken rubble etc and will now get the soil from under the car and fill up the side on the right. I'll do a slabbed base for the garage and then use type 1 gravel and fill the rest in. It's quick and cheap and is more than fine to park a few cars on. It does look like a mess but should be ok when I've done a bit more. Hopefully lol. Generally if you use 40 or 75mm crushed hardcore its cheaper than type 1 products. Depending on how deep you need to fill wacker in 4inch layers. Sorry if you knew this.. Cheers. I'll look into that, I've no idea really. I found some gravel that was £31 a tonne, dunno if that's any good. I'm just having ago.

Keep up the good work and it is hard doing this type of work on your own. Cheers. Yeah it's had work, it's the type of project me and my dad would do together, so makes him not being here worse. It's his z4 in the pictures, nothing special but he loved that car so I don't want to sell it. Dug up and marked out the garage. Nothing massive, just big enough for my most important car, then the rest of the space is for parking. Hopefully get garage base done by the end of this week, I need the large tree in some of the photos trimming down as it's out of control so hopefully find someone who can sort it out.

Spent most of today digging up the soil and moving to the other side. My whole body hurts. It's quite a task on your own. I can't lower the soil right down on the left as there's massive tree roots. So I'll lower it as much as I can and it can be a gently slope like the rest of the garden and lane. I'm going to make a start on the base for the garage tomorrow that should use up more of the soil. Taking shape though now.

Made some progress with this,
Tbh it looks like a mess but I'm re using bits of garage so it's never going to be perfect. I'll get a couple of photos in the day light.
From the Friday I have two weeks off work. It needs to be done by then, minus the garage itself

I like that very much I am just cleaning an area in my garden so it be good to know how you get on with yours, I was thinking of a concrete base but not sure now as you said you using slabs. My area will be about 12x8 mite be smaller not sure yet.. Who is the firm you buying from? You can buy 600x600 slabs, which should do a good base, I've got about 40-45 slabs already at mine so will just use them. will do for the base if you just having a wooden garage/shed, a concrete base is quite expensive imo It's just a company on eBay, they make it to your own spec and size, and as there local free delivery and building is free also. There's a few company's on eBay making things similar.

I'm going to get this. It's really just a bit shed, but it's the only way to keep things fairly cheap, concrete sectional for £2500 is smaller than this and needs a better base. This one I'm just going to use paving slabs which I've already got. It will be 6 meters by 3 meters. Which they build to what I want. I'll insulate it and line it in plywood or something in the inside, should do the job

Yeah Birmingham council will take it if I bag it up.
£500 like you say is a fair price but that £500 will go along way towards other things. So I just can't spend that.
I was quoted £2500 just for a concret sectional garage on its own.
I'm hoping to do everything, fence, removal old old garage, the base and have a new garage and I'll have it up and running for electrics and insulated for £2500.

Done abit today but pretty much all finished for now. I'm going to strip the asbestos myself in a couple of weeks. People asking £500 just to remove it. I might then just pay a couple hundred to get the concrete dismantled, then I can start on the base. This is the support I did. Only planned to be temporary but might as well leave as it is. Made it hinge out the way for getting cars in and out. As for the gates dropping I've added some all thread to adjust the height when they close. Should only take a minute to loosen off the lower nut and spin the zeb out the unistrut. Not ideal but I won't be opening the gates too often. And that with the gates open. Plenty of room to drive up etc.

Any body know of any meets starting up again this year?
My neighbour thinks The black boy meet is apparently invite only now, if you email the organiser or something? To try and stop the people doing burn outs and things from attending.
I can see that just being the same few cars every time if they do that.

I have no idea if my car will be ready for the show as its getting restored, I'm hoping it will be, is it possible to just turn up on the day?
Or is there a cut off date to buy tickets as hopefully I'll have a better idea on if the car will be ready in a few weeks
Thanks.
Edit. Just saw the cut off date to buy tickets.
