Back in the day, circa 10 years ago, when top speed runs and ‘thrashes’ were all the rage in the mags and there was actually money in the publishing coffers to do it, I had the odd pleasure of hiring Bruntingthorpe. As long as the cars weren’t too noisy and you kept to your side of the track, pretty much anything went. That said, the sobering words from the bloke on the gate were enough to stop too much tomfoolery – “it takes 15 minutes for the air ambulance to get here”…
Anyway, one thrash was a tear up of Fiesta RS Turbos. I’d expected a couple of cars to maybe run close to the 145-150 mark but was totally unprepared for the outcome, especially as I’d kind of dismissed the cheer of “they won’t catch us” when I highlighted the absolute need to stay out the way of the Bentleys that were sharing the track and also topping out down the runway (I didn’t fancy clearing up after two tonnes of warp speed Bentley hit an errant Fiesta).
So, that’ll be one Fiesta hitting a genuine 178 mph on only its third run and while still being live mapped, then! Sadly, a little mechanical mishap ended it there but I have absolute belief that that Zetec-turbo’d hatchback would have run pretty close to the magic number given the right conditions. It sounded mad but Christ was I happy when they finished up and were all safe!

Yep, these are very rare and so '80s it hurts - google Treser Audi wheels and you'll see.
Set of four Treser Audi alloy wheels with Michelin tyres, which I think are 230/45/VR390 off the top of my head. They're five stud and fit the early-mid '80s Audi stuff - notably the UR Quattro.
They’re metric, but the Michelins have absolute masses of tread - I reckon a good 8mm - and I can’t see any signs of perishing. Wheels are probably the best part of 30 years old but are in good condition. All centre caps are there.
Due to the rarity I expect ebay is the best place to shift them, but I'm listing them on here first to see if there's any interest. The price is £300 - the last set I saw on ebay went for £400 with mullered tyres.
Let me know if you're serious and will get some pics over the weekend.

I remember reading about the B and the Sprite - think you ran that first in the Challenge before building the B? Have a good memory from then, well I was only about 13 or 14 when those reports were in Street Machine! Be good to know what happened to the other runners. I guess quite a few got broken up and the demise of Steve's Green's Cortina was very sad.
Still got all those old copies in the garage too.
Good luck.

Treser Audi five-stud alloys and Michelin rubber
I have a set of four Treser Audi alloy wheels with Michelin tyres, which I think are 230/45/VR390 They’re metric, but the Michelins have absolute masses of tread and I can’t see any signs of perishing. Wheels are probably the best part of 30 years old but are in good condition.
So, in the real world, anybody have any idea what is a sensible value to put on them? I was thinking £300?
I guess with stuff like this, ebay could well be the answer…
Thanks

Thanks. Bashed it into Shiply and the lowest was £53.
That said, with a deft right foot I could probably pick 'em up myself for 25 quid's worth of diesel. Think that might be the better option!

Afternoon all,
Have scored some very nice alloys with tyres (set of 4) from Camberley, Surrey, GU15 4DH.
Guy isn't keen on couriering so before I head down that way, is anyone coming from there or via there to anywhere near Gloucester or Stratford upon Avon?
Thanks

Fair price for a non T&T project that, especially with the interior condition and what's been done like the new panels and filler neck.
Is it a runner?
Thanks.

Yep, frag it. Remove the odd bit as suggested and get shot. And people wonder why stuff gets weighed in or bangered.

I have a set (four) of TSW Stealths with tyres for a Mazda MX5 and would like to move them on asap.
They’re five-spoke with the TSW centre caps. Size is 14in with Pirelli P6000 185/60 tyres – two are very good, one is on the wear blocks and another is close to it. Sorry, didn't check the width as yet but would guess at 6 inch.
Few scuffs and a couple have a little bubbling round the valve, but they're actually in quite nice condition.
Ideal for that 90s softline look that looks so good on an early MX5! Or if you want to save your fancy wheels for the colder weather and then sell ‘em on for what you paid! Or just for skids, maybe.
Collection from Gloucester please or could maybe get them near Evesham or Stratford-upon-Avon.
Will sell for £50 THIS WEEKEND!

Bargain of the year if this is genuine - £750 usually gets little more than something that's barely complete... Of course, if it is straight up, then put me down in the queue with someone who's got cash waiting.
Call me cynical, but I am struggling to understand how someone who is clued up enough to highlight the major grot spot of the fuel filler neck etc but doesn't have a handle on the car's true value...
