Green Mk3 Capri 280 Turbo E816DPH, Southport 12/03/16 Green Capri 280 Turbo registration E816DPH was stolen from a secure garage in Southport on Saturday 12th March 2016. The car is one of only a handful of factory supplied Turbo Technics cars produced so will stand out from the crowd. The car has been laid up for a number of years waiting for the owner to restore it. The car has several small dents in the driver’s door & a red Turbo Technics sticker on the bootlid & front wings. It is fitted with a Borg Warner gearbox from a Sierra Cosworth which will stand out as the reverse is in a different location from standard Capri gearboxes. The car is fitted with a custom bellhousing & exhaust system. The car would have needed trailered or towed away as the car had flat tyres from sitting for so long. Very few people knew of the cars existence or location.

Trouble is police are so understaffed & have so much pointless paperwork that policing has changed for the worse!
An example of this was the recent thefts of 2 Cortina's stolen from Chatham on the same night. There were reported sightings of two Cortinas on the back of a lorry heading towards Dartford Crossing. The owners of the cars were advised to chase up the CCTV footage, the ex wife of one of the owners approached them to get the footage of that night but were told that they couldn't hand over footage to the general public & that the request for footage had to come from the police. The person requested this be done by the police but it was never done, valuable footage was lost & the thieves allowed to go on their merry way!
The footage would have caught the Cortina's on the lorry & captured the reg of the vehicle used in the thefts but the police were unwilling to act upon it!

I wouldn't be surprised if they go to car meets and follow the owners home. The very reason you need to be aware of who's behind you! If you suspect you are being followed don't drive directly to where the car is kept, take detours, drive to a petrol station & drive through the forecourt, if they follow/stop then their reg will be on the petrol stations number plate recognition cameras or drive to your nearest police station.

No idea in all honesty, just received a message from the person who reported it initially on Facebook, who's good friends with the owner which stated that he'd received a phone call saying the car would be returned.
Bit of a bizarre one?
