Red Series 2 RS Turbo H934GPM, Ashton-Under-Lyne 20/01/17 Red Series 2 RS Turbo reg H934GPM was stolen as part of a break in to a HGV repair centre where it was stored. Thieves smashed through a shutter door & wall to get to the car which they stole along with a load of tools. The car hasn’t been on the road for a while so the battery was dead & the fuel would be stale. The car was locked with the keys not on site so would have been taken on a trailer or lorry or towed away. The car has an RS steering wheel, is chipped, uprated turbo, K&N air filter & fitted with a dump valve & stainless exhaust, it has in car adjustable boost & also has Koni suspension. The car has great sentimental value for the owner has he’s had it for 17 years. This is the second RS to have been stolen in Ashton in a matter of days, a Sapphire Cosworth was stolen on the 18th January 2017 so the thefts are more than likely linked.

Great news Do we have info on who stole it? How it was found etc? It was stolen at 4:30 & taken to a car dealer who HPI'd it & at that time it wasn't showing as stolen so he bought it, then saw the owners sons posts about it being stolen on Facebook. The guy that bought it tried messaging the owners son but wasn't able to, he attempted to get hold of the owner but he's unable to read his messenger so messaged me after seeing it on my Facebook group to let me know everything so I was able to forward it to the owners son. The car is now back with the owners.

Found out yesterday that the mk2 shell stolen in East Kilbride in February of last year was recovered a few months after it was stolen. It was discovered purely by chance by the police who were attending another call! The shell was recovered in one piece however the LHD mk1 Escort & race shuttle that were stolen at the same time are both still outstanding.

I've messaged DVLA in the past & they replied back stating that a marker would be put against it for further investigation if it were to be applied for.
The method I used to report via their website is no longer there since the last update of their site so can no longer email them.

Might be worth asking about local bus & taxi companies to see if any of their drivers can recall seeing anything & asking about local scrapyards to see if either the Mex or Vectra had been offered

Anyone else in the area that may've seen something? Other garage owners or any homes that look onto the garages? Maybe worth tapping some doors

Does the o.p know if its been up for sale recently ? Sounds odd ? If it hasnt then what can someone get from the hpi check , and how would they know the vehicle number unless they have access to some sort of dvla type system ? That would give the registered keeper and cars location . That's been my conspiracy theory for a while, thieves have tapped up an insider working at DVLA for info of car locations. Some of the cars stolen, Classic Fords & Land Rovers are either parked miles out of the way or haven't been on the road for some considerable time. Info would either gave to come from the owner themselves, friends of the owner or from someone with access to the info such as DVLA.
