Whilst the Disco engine bay is big enough for a nice six cylinder donk.
A Merc OM606 can be made all mechanical -although the EDC setup is nice and simple- and will give more than enough to make a Disco very lively.
Alternatively the BMW M51 used in P38 Range Rovers with a power chip would also see things moving along nicely.

Remembered a couple more.
'Mr Miagi'.
A bald Chapman his mid 50's, fairly unassuming until he grew a beard, after which he looked a lot like the original Mr Miagi.
'The Barr'. A rather imposing looking woman who always looked like she was chewing a wasp. Late 40's divorcee who was not quite as wide as she was tall, slightly Grey in colour due to a chain smoking habit, and insisted on being titled 'Ms'. Her boyfriend -if you could call him that- was a rather slight chap, strange on his own, and often looked like a rabbit in headlights when he was with her.
She went from being Ms Barr to 'The Barr' After one too many visits and demands.
More if I remember any.

No, not ones your mates gave you when you were younger, something different...
It seems like quite a few on here my chosen profession was on the tools as a mechanical, whilst my initial training was as an agricultural engineer, I served my time working at at a country garage.
One of the highlights of the job was some of the nicknames we came up with for customers, here's some of the best I can remember.
Donald Trump. One of those chaps who came in at MOT time, or something broke. I forget his surname, although his given name was actually Donald. The 'Trump' came from his wonderful habit -when dropping his vehicle off- of dropping his guts in the car as he switched it off and shutting the smell in there before handing us the keys. I laughed at the look on my colleagues face when he realised what he'd just shut himself in the car with, not so much the second time it happened when I was the one who got in with it, believing he wouldn't have the guile to do it twice. After that we tended to leave the door open for ten minutes or so before braving the vehicle. He was an older bloke so I'm not sure it was deliberate, perhaps he just ate a large amount of boiled cabbage for breakfast?
'The Girls' A pair of mid 50's lesbians who were both built like the car they drove, a square Rover 400 diesel. Nice enough people, but absolutely destroyed any sort of vision you might have gleaned of lesbians from watching those 'blue movies'.
'The Notorious' A name that came into existence around the time the film 'Notorious'- the biopic about Notorious B.I.G. came out. The chap in question was a Bob Biggs, a chap with little mechanical knowledge who often turned up with requests for strange jobs to be done on his vehicle, usually complaining about wanting it done cheaply to boot. One day as we saw him pull into the yard someone quipped 'it's the Notorious BIG, gs...' 'The Notorious' stuck after that.
There were others, but none I can remember at the moment.
Does anyone else have any amusing, or fitting nicknames for customers they'd like to share?

Buy anLDV pilot with the Peugeot diesel then you have everything you need to upgrade the running gear. Could even drop an XUD turbo diesel. A Prima turbo would be a good one, or a 300 Tdi for a bit more bottom end grunt. LT77 or R380 box will allow both as bolt together conversions for engine and box.

3.9's are most common in 200 and 300 Series Discoverys, and Classic Range Rovers. Gearbox is likely an LT77 from a Rover Sd1.

I suppose they don't really, but I did appreciate the humour that surrounded him, something they were still fairly good with.

Something to do with the cruise then. Blank it.

Sorry, talking curse word.
First picture, vaccum feed for the fuel pressure regulator.

First picture, I think most likely something to do with the cruise control, possibly the vaccum advance on the distributor, although they're usually piped up to another port on the inlet, they do go onto the Base of the plenum also so most likely just blank it off.
Second picture is for Cruise Control, vacuum applied holds the throttle open as required, you can ignore it.
Third picture should have a flat disc on the top with little filter on it. This allows air into the engine as part of its circular breathing system. The opposite rocker cover has the oil separator on it and it piped up to the intake. Leave it open.

Needs more Stig.
I found some of the best gags with the old trio were some of the visual ones they pulled with him.
Daft things like wheeling him in on a sack truck, or arriving on the Isle of Mann on the luggage carousel at the airport, simple yet effective.
His appearance at the end of the 'Nomad' film was a reasonable one, which mostly worked with Matt LeBlanc's 'something licked me' line.
Does that make sense?

I thought the L322 Range Rover was quite a tidy, and indeed stylish modernisation of the original -more so the 4 door- shape, even though it was somewhat larger and rounded.
The current Range Rover Sport is also a reasonable update on the 4 door classic, and whilst I'm not a great fan of the shape of the L405, all the newer models of Range Rover can quite easily be identified as such.

Rowan Atkinson is hugely funny, but if you've ever watched any of his standup he's never on stage as 'himself', it's always a character of some description, so whilst he's a chap I have a lot of admiration for, he wouldn't fit the bill.
Chris Barrie does however have some potential for a few madcap motoring hi-jinks, and some odd smeg head references...

How much of the original wiring are you using? The complete Disco loom or just the engines fuel injection wiring?
14CUX is mad simple to connect up, asides the earths all it needs is a permenant live, an ignition live, the feed out to the fuel pump and the RPM pickup from the coil. You can quite easily bypass the immobiliser from the host vehicle by adding the required feeds.
If the rpm pickup isn't there it won't fire the injectors, if that's been connected then no fuel and no sparks suggests the power feed to the coil might well be the first suspect, especially as you mention the pump is priming the system. Also, it is possible to connect the wires on the ignition module on the distributor the wrong way round -most likely at the coil end if the dizzy has a multiplug fitting- which will also stop the sparks, rpm signal and therefore fuel.
A Google images search for Lucas 14CUX wiring diagram will pull up the diagram for the system which is a useful thing to have to hand.

Going on the reg it was a fairly early 2 door Range Rover at one point. One of those builds they're possibly kicking themselves for sawing up the original car looking at current values, even rough projects...

Looking at Google images I'm not sure they're something that's user serviceable in terms of cleaning.
You used to be able to get new solenoids and other rings for the older OMVL/AEB types, but it's 6 or 7 years since I last did very much with any gas stuff.

Regards rough running on LPG, a strip and clean of the vapouriser(s) and possibly new diaphragms could be a big help.
I've had a couple that have been used on vehicles for a few years and are full of 'heavy ends' which stop them working entirely as they should. I'd also give the LPG carb a look at, assuming it's similar to an SU then piston damper and possibly the internal spring could be in need of attention?
Otherwise, looking good.

The later 'Weslake' head from the 3 litre has a seperate inlet manifold, and is a straight swop onto the 2.6, there was also a twin carb head available for them (I think for one of the higher powered variants) which is again a straight swop.
Both types are in the genuinely rather than ebay rare categories though.
