Got my car back today, managed to get away with the £40 storgae charge as I argued that legally they have to give you the opportunity to collect it if they are going to punish you for not. Its good though as its come back complete with a fresh scratch across the front bumper and marks on my alloys and to top it off the rubber trim from the bottom of the drivers door is laying on the back seat. Now its only a 1997 2.6 A4 and wheels are standard alloys but I'm still furious that they have blatantly damaged my car. I think I'm gonna go down the libary, borrow £150 worth of books and sell them on ebay. Have you got AA/RAC cover i'd be on the phone to there legal bods, both for the damage and the pull. Sounds like you upset the bib with your Traders policy so he thought he'd get you on something trivial.

If you want to go really retro there a photograph of New Street on the Francis Frith website, from 1896 with a horse drawn bus and another from 1890 with just a cart. ;D

A fire extinguishers is required in some European countries aswell, take some emergency cash as well. Had my bank card swallowed somewhere in the Swiss Alps, but still able to get home, as I had 500 euro's hidden under the rear seat.
Doing long distances in France on the toll roads gets expensive, programme your sat nav to avoid them if your using one.
Don't overplan your route and pre book hotels, as you then tend to try and rush around meeting deadlines, more fun taking a laid approach getting lost and finding unusual places. More difficult with a family but never had any issues finding a room for a night.

From memory the last time I changed a set of drive shafts I had to use a 6ft scaffold tube on the end of a breaker bar to get them undone. When I did the the hub nuts back up I used the same principle in reverse, and I had a washer that needed the tabs bent back up and hammered into the nut with a hole punch. I guess the mini just relies on a split pin though.

From a personal point of veiw no, those damm modern cars move to quick and I can't catch anyone up to to right any of the injustices done.
The worst old car I have had with road rage was a MG Midget, if according to a few runs in I 've had whilst driving that storage for it wouldn't be a problem. It should still be shoved up my back passage, might have a route around and see if its still up there.
Anyone want a slightly soiled MG.

This in 1.6 variety, slightly breathed upon and this. In homage to the Alfa Arna ;D or a mid mounted Alfa V6 but that would be just plain stupid.

Sorry to call up an old thread but knew there was a more fitting place for this photo only took me six months to go past it and have the camera in the car. Metfield Service Station, hidden on single track road in deepest North Suffolk on the edge of the US WWII airbase that I learnt to drive on before they dug up the concrete runway. Someone's built a big house next door to it, hopefully it won't dissappear soon.

16's are the smallest rim that fits on them, we tried to fit the 15 inch chrome steelies from an old 911 onto a 964. Didn't work.
