One snapped cambelt at roughly 20K since it was last changed resulted in a few bent valves and a broken rocker arm. 250 miles commuting on my bike later, not to much of a stress when its 10 miles along the beach and cliff tops. No piston damage luckily. Just the bonnet to go back on and first test drive. I'm tempting fate its going to go horribly wrong.

If anyone can think of a cure to stop my mutt throwing up after 25 miles in the car..........My ex is taking my daughter on holiday that weekend and I have the next week booked off work. So its my only excuse left, well apart from the engines still in bits at the moment. It works out at 10 piles of dog sick at the moment

Sorry to hear about that. Hope you can fix it without too much £££ Isn't this the chance to change that engine for something bigger anyway? There must be loads of 13 or 1400 Micra's in the scrappies now. Priced all new valves new cambelt water pump all gaskets £186, would love to swap in a bigger motor but funds are severely restricted at the moment and can't fit a dog and child on a pushbike, whilst its off the road. The MA10 is overhead cam so why I thought of pushrods I don't know. Seems I have an oil leak from the cam shaft seal that weakened the belt causing premature failure. Will have a good look at the weekend, and if its damaged the pistons, it will be time to find a MA12 for an extra 8hp and 20N-m of torque. Peanuts really but thats nearly 10% more horsepower and over 20% more torque.

The Pao did nearly 300 miles without fault yesterday.
But.......................
Coming home from work tonight, pop and loss of power, luckily after just pulling away from a set of lights, pulled into the side and had a look. All my HT leads were connected ok, nothing obviously broken or lose, had a look underneath. Alternator belt ok, shouldn't there be a cam belt connected on that big pulley next to it. Whipped the Cam belt cover off and saw the remains of one snapped cambelt.
Not sure how many miles it lasted but the cambelt was last done when the water pump went November 5th 2007 on the way home from Guy Fawkes night, so say about 30,000 miles ago.
Next decision swap the engine or risk changing the push rods. Given I was going so slow I wonder what sort of damage was done.

Some people didn't appreciate it....only managed two Pao's and one S Cargo, and not one Be-1. The Cube's keep us all well entertained though.

Saw Mitsuoka Veiwt up close and personal. Saw the impact of a 100 plus convoy on a small seaside town. These guys helped us out keeping us all together, as well as the police escort and saw what happens when you take this... add a bit of this........ You end up with this. ;D

Alfa should of made this one of my all time favorite cars, 280bhp and nearly the same in lb/ft of torque. I had the money to buy it and didn't Last heard of languishing in Devon in a sorry state

I'm looking for a Garfield with suction pad feet. If anyone comes across one at a reasonable price, PM me! Would love to have one stuck on my window I found one in the bargain soft toy section of Toys R us, for a massive £2...as seen in my rear view mirror.

I've got a little Dawg at the moment so my movements are pretty restricted, once she's vacinated up and a bit more settled I'll come down.

When the Avenger was new, my father had them as company cars always the estate version but quite easily handled 50K a year. I can remember three of them one in Lime Green P reg , Red S reg, and an Orange V reg. Not sure when they became Talbot though.
Limiting yourself to just British cars is cutting your choices.
