I was just doing a random search on Autotrader last night, (I prefer the app on my phone as it sorts the cars oldest to newest) A car that caught my eye was a 1987 Audi 80, looked quite good for £990, not currently MOT'ed but mot history doesn't look to shocking.

The driver and developer of this, Sir Henry "Tim" Birkin, had a love for the Blower Bentleys since I swapped my Mini Cooper for one in the 1970's. Ok I admit they were Scalextric versions,

I'm supposed to be decorating but time for a tea break and tried a wheel on for size after a quick clean. Not to bad for £95, can't do fronts tyres are 175/65 ok on rear but need 165/65 on front.

Not really relevant to your search, but my other half bought a StreetKA. I was surprised by how good it was, with the only letdowns being the shoddy door mechanism breaking and the soft wheels (a common Ford problem apparently, as I have the same issue with my Fiesta ST). Brilliant little car though and a lot of car for the money. Heated seats, 6 CD changer and electric everything. Been pretty reliable too. She drives it very little, but it starts straight away every time. Well worth a look if you're looking into soft tops. . I covered 70k in my streetka keep an eye on the heater control valve and the thermostat housing both made of shoddy plastic. Never had an issue with brakes or alloys. The 34 mpg was its major fault my older Megane convertible gets up to 50 mpg on same routes.

Last night I had at the alloys I'd just bought, need some centre caps and fleabay lists 70mm or 60mm for compomotives.
Whilst measuring spotted the part number TF135, confirms they are 13x5's and Compomotive TF wheels. Not the split rim ones just the cast.
I've never seen them fitted on a car so a quick google search revealed this Imp, the only car I could find with the alloys fitted.
So now I'm going to have to get similar chrome centres, can anyone tell if rear loading ones will work as that's all I can seem to find online

Fortunately the facilities also cater for those of a more blessed nature who find the cold touch of porcelain unnerving. Not seen one of these oldskool urinals in years. Can't stop admiring the cars, but this picture made be laugh not only taking picture of a urinal, but there's feet in the next cubicle. I would love to have heard your explanation if the person had left whilst you still had your camera out.

I wasn't intending to fit alloys to the Polo but when these came up locally at a price that was to good to refuse it would be rude not too! Looks like a few evenings with paint stripper and metal polish coming up.

Lego hotrod, time to raid the Lego Box!! I use Mr Flux and yeah sometimes he frustrates but most of the time he comes through and sorts out what others couldn't. At the end of the day they are a broker not an insurance company.

It's still out there last week pushing my broken Audi of to a safe place it suddenly became light and sped up the road. Thanks to the guy who just jumped out of his Volvo and gave me a hand.
If it safe to do so will try to lend a hand, pushed many a car to a safe place. Make sure they are all sorted (mobile phone etc) and if I can help on easy repair.
Chatting to the recovery guy on the way home, he gets a barrage of abuse from other drivers on a daily basis. His response is always the same one day it will be your turn my friend and I'm busy enough to turn down jobs.

makes perfect sense and that's what i would do / that's what i would do if it was for sale for my train-mad 3 year old! have a look at grenade's truck thread - i think he discusses preserving patina with clear coat lacquer. I've just been looking at this, the construction of it is simple making a replica could be done in a day. The chassis is all wood the front and rear axle just bolts onto this. If you can find an old peal car, and something to use as a boiler then rest is just cutting ply. I can take some detailed pictures if you want.

Rather fitting for the week the Polo has had, in true Mike Wazowshi style it appears on the Retro Kings face book page! Yeah look behind the Mini theres a camper, sticking out the front you can see the Polo's indicator!! It was pressed into emergency school run and shopping trolley when I finally killed this.......new gearbox no thanks off to ebay you go But I had to swap the insurance over to this which no was interested in buying luckily, which meant I would be using the family wagon for commuting the blue thing in the back ground. My other half was not impressed. The general consensus of opinion on the Polo in the school car park was "What the hell is that" and "That is one ugly car". My other half is considering getting the kids on their push bikes next time she gets the short straw as she puts it and has the Polo.

Was looking at a car which stated in the add best bring a trailer as hasn't travelled far in the past few years. Thought I'd look!
Either the MOT examiner can't read or Ferris was right about reversing cars, the other possibility was it had done 99,999 in a year.

Anyway, enough of my ranting, the DfT Consulation needs attention now . If you don't have input don't moan afterwards. Complete the survey, but at the moment it's just a consultation on a getting a proposal together to put to the government of the day. It would still have to go through consultation, at government level. That's when you'll know how they want to treat VHI's. That's when you start writing to your MP's, and the industry will start lobbying. As we don't have any idea what option will chosen if any. At the end of the day it's an EU directive it may all fall by the wayside.

Being an old fart there was much talk back in 1995ish when the rolling 25 exemption started, along the same lines.
Any changes in law need a consultation period, I wasn't over fussed then, not fussed now. Need to see the detail before getting worried.
