So I had abit of a school boy moment. When I slapped the dope together I had lots of revisions of the cooling system, by the end of it it was filled with straight water.... not sure how its been in your parts of the country but its been very flipping cold here in endor.... Any way after warming things up with hot water and flushing the block through I managed to jump start the car and got everything warm enough to flush the rad and pipes out too. @jezer101 saved the day by donating his left over coolant. Ive now flushed and filled the cooling system fully and hopefully caused no damage ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ

Angle of the photo I'm sure. Was hard to grab a pic in the freezing cold whilst holding a torch in my mouth. All 3 pulleys are designed to run with a 10mm v belt and are within half a mm of each other in thickness as far as I can measure. they both come in at a shave over 15mm wide. The face was 5mm out from each other originally, the centres will be max of half a mm out now I've set it face to face if my measuring is correct. Ive tried to take some more pics but they really don't show much more. Ill be able to see a little better come the weekend with some daylight and with the belts here.

So I knew the pulleys were out of alignment, but after slapping a belt on, it worked so I didn't revisit it. Anyway I checked it this eve and I was 5mm out from the water pump pulley. Luckily I have a stack of spacers from a few different alternators and was able to put a stack together that got it pretty much perfectly aligned to everything. This should solve the issue of snapping belts and took all of 10 minutes. Just need to wait for the new belts to turn up and she will be back out and useable ๐๐ป I didn't even notice the amount of rubber dust it had thrown off!

What was worrying was his initial plan of action was to take me to eurocarparts to get a replacement belt. Id already called ahead to be told they didn't stock the belt and in fact had none internally within the company! Ive ordered 2 from an ebay seller to replace the snapped one and have a spare. The issue is the alternator isn't bang inline with the bottom and water pump pulley, I did mean to return and fix this at some point but it did over 500 miles as is so kind of slipped my mind and I've enjoyed just driving it rather than sorting any further issues out.

wrapped cable ties around the bottom v pulley and around the water pump pulley. they held up fine as a replacement belt for the jaunt home.

The like is for the photos, not for the fan belt and 3 hour wait. i get you, school boy error really driving around in such a hack with no spares, or cables ties which the AA man temp fixed it with. Drove 5 miles with them on there

I think that posters to this thread need to tell us what year they were twenty so we can put into context how old these cars were at the time. And didn't half of you own a camera back then? edit button to the rescue

The adapters will look ugly so you will end up run caps. Better just getting your stock wheels banded. Brad I thought it might work if they were anodized like these? though proper domes wouldn't be a bad thing. Then I start wondering if its getting a little too VW, I mean its obviously had abit of influence over the style of this but i don't want to loose too much Renault.

not sure what you mean buddy, they are mounted to the sides of the centre bumper? they mounted in the original holes for the bumper bits that I removed which was nice.
