Unfortunately it looks like I wont be finding the time to do anything with my corolla so with space at a premium its time to shift it on. its a 91,1300 estate thats been off the road since March due to an mot fail. It needs a couple of patches in the rear arches and end of the sills ( if you cover my time I can weld these up for you), rear load compensator inoperable ( I intended to remove it and make up a brake pipe that bypassed it). Other than that its good to go, start, runs, goes and stops great. One outer cv joint clicks on full lock. the interior is really tidy and looks good.body work is fair, front wings are very scabby around the arches and paint has alot to be desired. car is in poole, dorset. £180

great cars these. i brought one 5 months ago and its been faultless. mines a 1.6 gs in red but wilh the ga16s engine rather than the ca16. i'm getting 90 miles per £15 of fuel on my daily run to work and not missed a beat. i intended to lower mine lots maybe using polo/golf front coilovers all round with banded steels.. if i don't end up selling to fund another datsun. good luck with your sale, looks a great car.

Had this exact problem years ago on a an early 1.4GR 205. It was only a few years old at the time. It was caused by fuel overflowing from the float chamber down the carb barrel and effectively flooding the engine. I took the air filter off and watched it doing it over about a 10 minute period. I assumed it was heat soak warming the fuel and causing it to expand. Never did cure it though I suspect lowering the float height might of helped. I did discover that it was a known and common problem. The technique to get it started was to hold the throttle to the floor and wind it over until it would eventually come to life in a big puff of black smoke. The car had a number of other irritating issues which meant that it soon went to live with someone else and we got a Mk2 Golf GTI which was soooo much better! Nick this has been a common problem on my cars for the past 20 years! my current n13 sunny does it, my 120y did it and every toyota starlet and 1000 ive had has done it. later carbs did have a fuel cut solinoid added that may have been an attempt to stop it but its not cured it in my cars. i would love to find a fix for it. lowering the fuel level has not worked for me in the past and has only made the hard cornering fuel starvation all these cars suffer from worse. ive alway found they will start fine using the 'flooded' foot to the floor technique. . and ive got use to the smell of unburnt fuel.

oh and the chin spoiler was a mk1 golf gti the needs narrowing about 40mm.it was an original type plastic one but ive since used one piece fibreglass versions that i think look much better.

this is the other kp i did after the red one. i sold it on here and it later got sprayed orange but not seen it since. the red kp was on cut coils but the primer car got coilovers using a rallydesigns kit.for other coilover conversions ive done since ive used mk1 golf and toyota tercel inserts that allow the strut tubes to be shortened and regaining some of the lost travel.ive since built a few starlets, datsun, cortinas, caddy van etc but still love the kps. current project is a datsun b120 pick up with a ca18det kick up the bum and some kick ass ssr rims.
