That's only 2000 miles, I'd happily do that in a metro (if I could fit comfier seats, as my back seems to be getting pickier the older I get!) "Only"

Great thread! Here's my modest Metro, pictured outside MotorPunk HQ; We've long believed that much of BL's stuff gets an unfair rep, and to prove they're not all quite as bad as they say, we're taking a trip to Morocco in it to prove a point with a couple of other BL cars. More on that here if anyone is interested; www.motorpunk.co.uk/carclub-18-30/the-events/harris-mannk-to-casablanca/

Yeah, I don't get to pick the music, maybe a good thing because my taste in music is even worse. Afro-Jazz, anyone? No, thought not!
The irony of this video is that I spend most of it enthusing about the MX-5 reliability, but immediately afterwards my own car (the silver one in the video) developed a list of faults as long as your arm and so is going into winter storeage in a week or two.

Thanks for the pics, the Revival was a blast, as always. You bottled out of our challenge for a chap-hop face-off in the beer tent then? It's off topic but perhaps RRers would be interested in the outfits of the Revival? I wrote this light-hearted feature on some of the stuff I saw: www.motorpunk.co.uk/out-and-about/outfits-of-the-goodwood-revival/ A taster of that is below;

Great little education I got there tdk, thanks! Somewhat ironically the chief editor and one of the photographers from XCar are old school friends. Small world it is! They are? They work damn hard to turn my rambling twaddle into half-presentable videos! Nice guys to work with.

MK2 Golf makes a lot of sense to me. Or a tidy 924 for something a bit different.

Brilliant video, top work! I've always fancied an MX5, but never bought one because they're so expensive. A basic early MX5 in average condition will set you back at least $7000 in Australia! Thanks Waveman! I can post you mine in instalments, large rusty lumps drop off regularly! AUD $7000 gets you MK3 MX-5 here! That said, I'd swap our cheap cars for your great weather, we got bloody soaked filming! Our other videos are here if you're interested: www.motorpunk.co.uk/video/

Volvo D5 - Doesn't matter which car it's in. This. I used to drive to Scaberdeen occasionally and had a V70 D5, it was perfect for the job, quick and comfortable. I now fly, by the way.

TDK - Asked for permission and was given the go ahead. Was told it was renovated / restored in around 2007 and has sat since. Wing damage done recently. OK, no worries, just surprised as I know the owner and he is the last person I would imagine allowing folks on his land and taking pics.

I am 99.9% sure that's the car owned by the Father of a good friend of mine on the family farm, can I ask how you took the picture? The car is visible from a distance from the A46 but your picture is so close you've driven a long way on to their land to take the picture. Not being awkward here, just curious, it's private land. Also, there's a Pug CTi in a wretched state at the crappy run-down garage on the other side of the A46 at that spot (the one with the vans). Look forward to your reply.

As for hiring a car, have a look at the excess figures and you'll soon change your mind!! The excess on the Artega GT was, as I recall, €40000 when I drove it (!) I can assure you that the excess on something like a Swift will be LOTS less than the repair costs, inconvenience and legal hassle of pranging your own car.

Hi all, i have been looking at oddities that people "back in the day" have built through necessity and also those who just want something different, and was wondering if anybody has pictures of similar cars. This is the sort of thing i am talking about..... I like that. It looks like it was built out of nessecity, it's quirky and cool. However, this thing I spotted recently, is something else.... Taken from here>

I'll post a completely worthless prize to the first person (if there is one) to correctly guess the make and model. I'll add further pics later as I doubt anyone will get it from this one Pfft. This is Sparta Retro Rides!I reckon that's a DKW or maybe an IFA . and all within an hour or so. Impressive! Looks to me like Matty was the first to guess the make and model correctly. Drop me a DM with your address and I will post a pathetic prize.

At collection in the wilds of Norway; I'll post up more pics and info later, there's a really interesting background to this one.
