Make sure you have a USP - that lovely view and setting is only good when the sun shines. Have a theme, a vibe, something that will make people who aren't looking for a coffee stop by anyway because there's an interesting style to the place. Vintage bikes are all the rage - hang a few up and encourage Sunday cyclists to drop in? No parking worries, they're an affluent crowd, etc. "Artisan coffee" made by "Baristas" alone won't cut it. Your missus could always go back into nursing if it doesn't work and you'll be forever thinking "what if" if you don't have a stab at it. Good luck. When you open up, post on here, and I'll try and call in for a cuppa and slice of cake on my retro pushbike. I sincerely wish you every success.

I wrote a chapter about these in my book, explaining why they weren't as well made is it's sister, the Accord. I spent many happy days watching production line bodges at Cowley, and felt smug that I owned an Accord at the time. That was then. Now I get a throb on when I see a picture of a 620ti. Go for it.

Can I say rusty arches? Had 'em 12 years now, bodged once in a while, never quite right though.

I think it's on the corner of Melbourne Street and Upper Charnwood Street. I was walking from a garage I use on Nedham Street to the Station (honest!) when I took the pic.

Even if you were in the UK you would get the same reply I'm not sure that's true - when I sent in the V888 for my cars when I first got them, the DVLA sent copies of all the paperwork they had on file - the first application for registration, and copies of all the changes of owner details. They're from the seventies and are quite poor quality, but they're legible. Only for cars registered to me, though. If OP was in the UK, they could just register the car to themselves and then should be able to get the details. You have to have good reason, against a set of certain circumstances, as stated by the DVLA. When did you get your info and what was your reason? I'm surprised you got anything from them (but glad you did, obz)!

The key phrase there is "limited range of circumstances" - and your interest in your old car isn't sufficient reason for them to release what information they may have. Even if you were in the UK you would get the same reply. I will say, though, that the DVLA are human. If you call them and talk to a person you tend to get a reasonable service, but I am sure you will get the same reply. Apologies if you have already done so, but you'll probably have more joy by asking around online as your car is clearly rare. This forum might be a good place to start - www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&f=34 , or (loooooong shot) TVRs old PR man is called Ben Samuelson, maybe he'll have some knowledge about the car and/or who might help. He's on Twitter here - twitter.com/bensamuelson?lang=enGetting this information out of the DVLA with the circumstances you have would be harder than getting sunburn in Trondheim in February. Good luck!

This was fun - I have always wanted to know how far you could map a standard car before it died. Here's what happened when I actually did it...

I wonder how old the advert is, are they still selling 'em up in Sweden?

Thanks for posting, but Clarkson is still very much the overbearing public school bore for me, even in this format. He seems to stifle conversation somehow, it's about him and his opinion, not the subject in hand. Anyway, it set me off googling Bana and his car, now that is interesting

Unfortunately yes tdk the land at Brandon Stadium has been earmarked for housing, Cov Bees finished at the end of last year, 1928 to 2016. Very sad. Oh FFS, that is rubbish. I occasionally go over to Kings Lynn, but am (like you) Leicestershire based - where else is there?

Great thread. Why don't you like the Lotus engines? curse word castings of curse word quality alloy that have all being worked on before by various levels of retard so nothing fits properly I.e. I end up having to make custom valve guides, retainers etc etc as once you change one thing nothing else off the shelf fits. They cost and absolute fortune to do and don't make enough power to justify it. Better of starting with a Fiat Twin Cam. Thanks, very interesting.
