So....Looking back to the start of this thread, you bought, what looked to be a reasonably straight, pretty XK 120 in 2014. In May 2020 you started to strip it down. Now it is getting virtually a new body, built at home, mostly by you, to a far better standard than Jaguar built originally! No wonder we are watching, in awe and admiration, at this thread.

Nice to see that you are making sensible and sensitive improvements to the original design.

Indeed. Taking advantage of sequential injection, which helps “tame” cams with lots of overlap and extends the workable rev range downwards. The fuel fog produced on both, even at high rpm is quite an eye-opener! Nick I do believe the fuel injected one is on barrel roller throttles, and is mechanical injection instead of electronic injection I think the fuel injected one is on flat slide throttles - it certainly looks like that. ........and who wouldn't want long trumpets on Webers??

That is a healthy sounding cam in the injected one! Indeed. Taking advantage of sequential injection, which helps “tame” cams with lots of overlap and extends the workable rev range downwards. The fuel fog produced on both, even at high rpm is quite an eye-opener! Nick I too was surprised to see that "fog", I always imagined that the air/fuel flow into the engine was a sort of smooth streamline. However it is obviously more complex with that "Stand - off"....is that in part due to the cam overlap and a standing wave?

Nice to see that you are getting it back to original...or as near as! I'm sure some of the "repairs" that have been done over the years will be regarded as proper "bodge jobs".... but it must be remembered that, 5o years ago this was an old banger of a Jag and if it cost too much to keep it on the road then it would have been scrapped! Indeed there was a thread about an ex banger XK racer that has been restored recently.

Well if it wasn't pushing and pulling a 1.7 ton of AS car that did for your back.....we won't ask the obvious question... But hope you get better soon Robert!

I also used up the last of my Pink Enamel spray....except it promptly reacted with the small amount of clear PU lacquer...... and gave a nice "wrinkle" finish! I'm not sure why the PU didn't react when I sprayed it over the pink, but I suppose the a solvent in the pink quickly evaporated as it dried and so it only reacts when it is straight from the can. Well I did want to rub it down properly and spray again.....

Then I had a quick check to see how the recumbent seat would fit.....if needed.

Then today I tidied up some of the old stubs on the frame parts, welded up a couple of holes and put some tube sections in to fill up some open ends. All just using bits from the old small blue frame.

Some more work done - I had fabricated an idler wheel earlier to take up the chain slack, using a bit of 5mm studding and nuts, to hold a deraillieur sprocket.

I did say PINK It is only a quick spray job because I like to see how well it works and make any changes before (possibly....) stripping it down and doing all the finishing and prep work!

A quick visit to Halfords saw the purchase of two very long cables and now the back brake and gearchange work correctly. I have ridden it and it is better to pedal now it is in the lowest gear. I also bought spray cans of primer, colour and clear coat.
I asked my grand daughter what colour she wanted......
It is now pink...Very PINK!!
