An update on the hot rod. As feared water has trickled its way into the bores, sat there for a considerable time, corroded the pistons and done a fine job of fusing them together. With the throttle mechanism seized solid, carb beyond repair and alternator dead, this motor has had its day. My skills and budget won't stretch to a fabricated setup with different running gear etc. With the considerable parts list to boot, my best option is going to be waiting for another Celeste to turn up, perhaps a runner with a rotten shell, and building one from two. In the mean time I'll moth ball this one. Frustrating really as it's the right time of year to start work on a big project. Should anyone have any leads on a Celeste, you know where to find me

I'm looking for a Mitsubishi Celeste (in the UK). Happy to consider anything. Ideally it needs to be running or at least stand the chance of running. If you know of someone who may have a lead, please pass on my details. I would be very grateful Either PM me through here or vipers_30 at yahoo.co.uk. I recently acquired a Celeste as a project and have a fairly tidy shell but not a lot else. Alternatively I might consider a running 4G52 engine and gearbox from a Sapporo/Sigma/Galant or similar. Can anyone help?

Back down the storage yard today to investigate yesterdays arrival. Mixed findings really: Engine not looking healthy. In fact it looks seized and ugly... ...and that carb has had it Not all the wild life I found was dead. Going by the size of this fella, there was no shortage of food either. Eeek. Boot lid is terminal. Lucky horse shoe? The entire budget for repairs is kept here. Spares organised and boxed up. We have headlights, indicators and various bits of trim. This is good. Looking forward to my tunes playing out on this bad boy. Wings, front panel, grill, bumpers etc. Phew! Once upon a time this would have been a lovely place to sit. It was resprayed yellow 20 years ago. Originally it was grey. I can't get the engine to turn over, however I will try again before I condemn it for good. This would be a big stumbling block but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now that's where my efforts are going. Cosmetics, awful as they are inside and out, can wait! Yep I'm on the sigma galant forum Speedy

New addition to the Mitsubishi sanctuary today: She looks prepped for the oval of death but fear not folks, I've no plans to go banger racing. Beneath this tatty, weather-beaten, multi-coloured, cheesy exterior lies...an iron oxide crisis and the most gruesome interior I've ever sat in. My fragile enthusiasm is telling me it's not as bad as it looks. One could say the same about last nights Chinese though and we all know where the left overs end up. Once the rain cuts me a break I shall venture outside, find out what I've got and see if she'll splutter into life. While daunting, I feel this will be a better project to get stuck into than the blue Sapp for now. The important parts of the chassis are solid and a larger percentage of the restoration is within my skill set. This one is a 1979 Celeste 1600 ST. My crib sheets suggests it had a tyre squealing 73hp, top speed of 99mph and a RRP of £4,499. If it sees any of those figures again I'll be a happy man! The sales brochure quotes Stirling Moss - "This feels like a very good mile eater. It'll cruise on a motorway at 95 to 100". He must have been bouncing his off the limiter. Along with Sapporo spares, if anyone has leads on Celeste parts or even a donor vehicle/project, please get in touch. There are fewer Celeste's on the ground than Sapporo's so any help would be gratefully received. My plan is to get her back on the road and looking smart.

I have a brand new Sachs / Valeo clutch kit here for an Alfa Alfetta GTV6 V6 2.5. It was purchased in 2005 from Alfaman Services in London for the grand sum of £258. Never fitted and I only took it out the box to check it remained in good condition. £150. I'm in Sussex and will post.

Cheers everyone. The Alfa has found a new home this morning and will be restored to its former beauty. Couldn't ask for a better outcome!

Will try and get some more photos today if the weather holds out.
In terms of mechanicals, just assume it needs everything doing. It's an old Alfa that's sat in a hedge. Going to need a considerable amount of work.

Alfa people!! PLEASE SAVE THIS CAR! Don't let it become a: Model: Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 2.5 Year: 1983 Mileage: 99000 Tax/MOT: None Location: East Sussex Price: Offers - see description First and foremost chaps my apologies this advert is not very comprehensive. This Alfa was left at a friends workshop and it's now being disposed of. I've got a week to prove the internet is not full of time wasters and this car has potential, whether it's a donor or a project. If I fail by Sunday it will be filled with junk and crushed. For gods sake people don't let this happen! What I know about this GTV: DVLA says it was last taxed in 1991. Six years ago it drove into the workshop to have its floorpan undersealed. It then sat outside awaiting collection for 4 years. Eventually the owner booked it in for clutch replacement around the corner. This never happened and its' sat in the hedge ever since. Needless to say the old girl is now very scruffy and covered in mould. The door has been open so the interior is rather manky too. Dash and seats look OK. I believe the underside is fairly sound but I wasn't going to get covered in mud to find out. The lower wings are very frilly and there's big holes in the engine bay. It's not a weekend job. It's a 2.5 V6 engine with 98,800 miles showing. This ran a few years ago but no idea what it needs now - not even tried. The clutch is worn out. There is a key but no history or V5. I might be able to get it but otherwise it's £25 to apply for one. The owner has given permission for its disposal. I believe he just wanted the plate and lost interest when the bill started climbing. The plate EKR1Y is included. I know 3 transport companies who can assist with delivery. It varies depending where you are but guestimate 90p a mile (there and back) from Hailsham, East Sussex. I hate ads without prices. £350? PM me what you feel it's worth. You're welcome to call me on 07933 641790 but if you've got Q's, write them and I'll go and investigate. I've got until Sunday (April 14th) to find her a home. With a deposit this can be extended to April 21st.

Standard Supra seats are not overly rare. Grey cloth, grey leather and blue leather were all quite popular. Black less so and this colour combo considerably more so.

What a fantastic collection! It's so good to see I'm not the only person out there who ends up with half a dozen of the same car. No one understands that just because they look identical doesn't mean they drive exactly the same, plus each one has its own story behind it. People just think I'm bonkers...though they're probably right! I'm equally amazed you've managed to find so many Dolomites that aren't 90% iron oxide. Good work on your hoarding sir. Long may it prosper!

Yep Stu sent through some photos of his old Sapporo. He kindly helped me with some impossi-parts too! Update from the other day - now running very well with new points and condenser. Fresh rubber up front has cured the awful ride too as the old tyres were square. Last week we unblocked the heater matrix and warm air is now filling the cabin via the demist and footwell vents. I can't get anything through the dash vents though - hot or cold. It's the same on both cars and not sure why. Still a few gremlins to iron before it's ready for a long adventure but we're getting there

Not too much of an update since passing MOT, mainly due to inclement weather conditions! We undertook our second mini adventure yesterday but only made it 6 miles before breaking down. The car is surging and cutting out. I'm thinking dodgy fuel pick up sucking in air or condenser (that's new...gggrrr). Or both. Either way it put a blunt full stop to driving as the most I could get was 25mph. Condenser replacement first as it's easier and I'm now (in)patiently waiting for the postman. I did get one gratuitous pic on my journey. Same area as before but the sky looked brilliant: Mitsubishi very kindly followed up an enquiry I made regarding how many Sapporo's they registered in the UK. There's no distinction between Mk1 and Mk2 models but a majority of the 3791 registered between May 1978 and December 1981 would be pre-facelift. The Mk2 and Turbo models continued until 1986. Total Sapporo count (Mk1, Mk2 and Turbo) was 5062, the Turbo being the rarest. DVLA database currently shows 32 early Sapporo's. There's probably a few more out there but in 35 years we've certainly lost over 99% of them. At the moment I don't plan to break the blue car but if I do I'll let people know.

Yup - the tan interior is quite a rarity. It feels very 80's inside with the brown...everything. I love it!
I've seen one other tan car for sale in my time and there's a gent in the owners club with the same. Both were equally scruffy.
They also did the interior in velvet red, which looks garishly fantastic.
