Great to see you have the old girl running.
If I was you I would plan for having new wings and source some before you take the paint off. You can always move them on if you do not use them...

I'm assuming you've tried gsf and ecp? They're usually pretty good at getting parts in that aren't on the shelf must be my age but I get nothing but attitude from our local ecp. gsf on hte last few occasions I have phoned for audi parts have been helpfull but we no longer stock etc... Try both Monday interesting story give me some hope for the head gasket still being in on peice. Can you remember the part number? or is it the same as I have quoted?

Could anyone shed some light on this one? I have a B2 83 carbed auto 1600 with a WV code engine in it. I need to replace the pipe from the back of the head to the auto choke on the carb. The number I have come up with is 026121058C from: www.partscats.info/audi/en/?i...parent_id=1284I think this is correct however nothing comes up on google or ebay and my local source (wvs) in Bristol has tried ordering it from VVW. It is now on backorder with no delivery date. VWS parts bloke thinks this is the same as saying **** off I have tried buying pipe from the reel my local autoparts. It was then I clicked that one end is 13mm(carb) and the other is 16mm (pipe on back of head). Any help appreciated.... Have a pic of for your time... wish I still had that one

I will throw Azev A's into the mix. What I had on mine: hated them at first but grew to really like them. Sat in my garage now without the car attached alas :-(

And then, randomly parked up on the way out of Madeira Drive, a lovely old Woody Traveller in just the correct shade of Seventies Fag-Butt Brown. Splendid. I'll have the wagon, thanks [/quote] So would I. Adore those wheels. Thanks for the absorbing and really enjoyable post

Thanks for the replies gents. Much appreciated.
I will be keeping the current speedo for MOT and a rough mileage covered for insurance. I will investigate suggestions over the next couple of weeks.
BOLF - Nice but way out of my budget :-o

Just posted the NIP for doing 37 in a 30 and would like to avoid paying this particular tax again. The Viva has wrong size wheels (they look nice though), a ford box, Vauxhall speedo and a cable made by mated 1/2 Ford half Vauxhall outers with a Ford inner IIRC. This undersandably struggles to give a smooth needle movement. All in all a curse word arrangement to give anyhting like an accurate reading. I could get the speedo calibrated but this will cost quit a bit if I remmber correctly. I have looked at Phone apps(android). there are hundreds and no way to tell the best etc. I came accross this (http://www.speedview.co/) when searching the site for any experience/recommendations. Thoughts, ideas experience on phone apps or other ways to get an accurate speed reading in the car. Have a picture of said nice wheels

Saw the car at Berkley show. looking good. Waved to you at Queens the other week. I was just leaving in a red Audi.
Keep the electronic ignition as they are way better than points.
Only suggestion I have is check your earths! Especially the engine earth strap. Might be worth checking plugs and leads as well. It has been know for new to be faulty.

keep the wing for later. and get the repair done. It does not have to look perfect. That comes later when you get the body sorted and then sprayed.... If that means shelling out now then do it!
Get it on the road and enjoy it :-)
