Yes I've had letter stating I have no sorn and I am liable for outstanding tax on my car. I called the number on the letter as I have an email to prove sorn and also bank transactions for tax when car was on road but they were a payment line and wouldn't listen. I found it amusing when they told me if I didn't pay the enforcement team may choose to clamp the car. They'll have to refit the suspension and wheels to do so which will save me the effort so hopefully they pop by . I've written s letter with copies of the paperwork I have but as yet have had no reply.

I'm not sure if he was in burnside previously or not.
He helicoiled two spark plug threads for me which worked a treat. Reasonable price and quick turn around time too.

What about Davey Gilmour on Cambuslang Road? I've had a few jobs done by him and been happy with his work. www.dgilmour.co.uk

That's a really nice cavalier you have. Looking forward to seeing your progress with it.
I've got an L spec too with auto box that I'm currently reshelling my rotten CD into.
Re the coilovers there's a lad named Brett on mk2.cav.com who has worked with gaz to develop a front set where you send them your struts and they adapt them. I don't know about costs etc but I'm sure he would be happy to point you in right direction.

To add a fireman's perspective we don't force other road users to break the law by entering bus lanes or going through red lights etc.
If the only clear path is a bus lane then we'll use it. If we approach a queue of traffic at a red light we stop and also turn off sirens. We don't blast horns and bully traffic through red lights. If, however, a car chooses to go through the red light to create space we will follow it and turn sirens back on. The sirens are not to intimidate or hurry on the car assisting us but are there to give them protection from other traffic that is using the junction from other directions - ie obeying a green light.
When you have blue lights approaching try to indicate your intended manoeuvre and a bit of common sense from both public and emergency services should keep us all safe and legal.

They also issue refund from date they receive paperwork via Royal Mail and process it. It's not the date of sale written on the v5 that they take into account. I signed over a car on 25th november last year and it wasn't processed until the beginning of December which meant I received no refund for December as its issued for full months only. So for that car the DVLA will have received a tax payment from both myself and the new owner for November and December. A stupid system but one which is no doubt earning them a few extra pounds when cars are sold. Not so sure about this. My step lad bought a car a couple of weeks back on a Sunday which had tax on the screen. He didn't realise that the tax didn't roll over. When I checked online the following Saturday the car was showing untaxed as of the Sunday he bought it. I don't doubt that's correct as your step son is required to tax from the date he bought it so they will make sure he has to backdate it to the start of the month in which he purchased the vehicle. But as the seller you only receive a refund for full months of unused tax and in my case the time it took for DVLA to process took me into a new month. My loss and their gain. As stated above had I sorned it online I may have avoided having to pay the tax for December.

I've seen masking tape used to create nice sharp edges but personally I just wear a couple pairs of gloves and use my finger to press it into and across the seam. I use the pu type in cartridges - tiger seal , sikaflex etc which applies well and costs about £5ish a tube.

I've been lying under my car earlier today stripping off suspension parts and subframe to treat rust, paint etc. I'm round about as old as the time you have been working on cars but I'm feeling a few aches and pains too. But I'll still go out and do some more tomorrow

I haven't used it on an exhaust but I've used the pound land paint on calipers, suspension etc and it is actually quite good.
As for the original question BBQ / stove paint worked well for me.

I've got a smaller clarke machine than yours but had the same issues you are having and it was due to the swan neck needing replaced. Cost around a tenner from machine mart and takes about ten minutes to replace. This is the type of thing but there are a couple of variations in the part www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-industrial-swan-neck

Spotted in St Andrews a couple of weeks ago - 1600e no less! Sure it was not Perth you were in? I thought that too when I saw photo. You thinking about Tay Street?

When you cut the rust out and you are left with holes that have nice shiny square edges it doesn't look quite so bad As already said it's all fixable with a bit of time and effort
