This was My vehicle once upon a time - because all the caring enthusiasts didn't lift a finger to acquire it before I did. Storing the vehicle was - once upon a time - possible. Tranporting the whole vehicle was - once upon a time - possible. Giving the vehicle away complete was also a possibility once upon a time. After these possibilities became impossibilities - and when NOBODY came to aid in safeguarding this vehicle DESPITE SEVERAL REQUESTS, the only option was to dismantle it and to transport the smaller parts - Thus inadvertently saving it from an absolutely certain scrap pile destiny. If the parts were not removed from the vehicle.... As previously speculated - the travellers would have stripped it and scrapped it.
It stands me in excess of 7000 quid including previous transport and storage charges. 1300 euros is peanuts.... AND NOT WORTH IT APPARENTLY LOL! Even 4 grand in euros to help the one and only is an absolute bargain. All this is solely because everyone we contacted was never that bothered for it's future! Not even your beloved BBC.... lol And it seems history is repeating once again. Certainly nobody here is THAT interested in the car. Apart from the owners who can't really do a lot at the moment. Everyone else is more preoccupied with slapping me upside the head. Never Mind eh?
Thanks again
So you already know that the only person who has any use for these parts can't buy them for the price you are asking, so what's the point inn this thread? Unfortunately non of us have a use for them so you might as well just crack on with building your generator out of them It would be a shame for the car to never be reunited with its parts but no doubt it can be rebuilt using parts from other cars even if it isn't to the exact factory spec. Not ideal but better than it never being complete again at all eh

If this hybridowner genuinely has the parts then he has very few options really
sell them to the owner of the car for whatever he is willing to pay
Scrap them
Use them as some inefficient way of charging batteries
As has been said rare doesn't always equate to valuable. The fact that these parts are only of any real use to one person means there won't be people fighting over the chance to buy them forcing the price up, which is the usual way rare stuff becomes valuable.
It would be a shame if the car was never reunited with its parts, but if the person selling the parts is asking a unreasonable amount then unfortunately that's probably the way its going to go. No idea exactly what is missing but could the running gear not be used from another reliant to get it running and driving? It wouldn't be original but at least it could be put back on the roads and taken to shows for people to see. As is I bet barely anyone even knows that this car exists and it would be a shame if thats the way it stayed

Being a 'silly teenager' myself (aged 18) and also being in a college with other teenagers my age, studying motor vehicle, I know that the future for classic cars is looking quite bleak. As I am always talking to people my age who are also interested in cars at college I'm starting to get a feel for what cars teenagers want, and classic cars are not what they want. I currently own a 1965 triumph herald and everyone seems to feel that my car is a 'rust bucket' which it is not may I add, is not, people my age don't want classic cars, they want small honda civics and vw polos, or anything that they can lower to the floor and drive around at stupid mph trying to get any girl they find to get in.. people my age don't want classics as we know them, meaning that in 10-20 years time the triumphs, MGs, morris, hillmans and other beautiful cars will be extinct, and I don't like the thought of these cars dying out and being replaced by lowered Volkswagens lowered with fake bbs's becoming the future of classic cars.
Anyway, the question at hand is I would like to know where other people think 'classic' cars will be like in 10-20 years time and weather classics as we know them know will still be around or be extinct. when I was a silly teenager me and my mates liked hot hatches and driving around looking for easily impressed young girls to take advantage of. That would of been about 14 years ago That's how its been for generations and yet plenty of classic cars are still on the road so I wouldn't fret too much about it to be honest.

A mate has been offered a v6 coupe for about 'scrap value' (no idea how close to actual scrap value it will be mind). He keeps dropping hints about us going halfs on it. As appealing as the thought of pimping around in one of those slammed and running straight through pipes is, I just have far too much going on car wise right now

I have always wanted to change the badges on the Polo to Ford Fiesta or Vauxhall Nova, just because. It would confuse and infuriate a lot of VW fans Hmmm, BMW badges on the MGB There used to be a mk2f local to me that was badged up as an Astra, although given the area I wouldn't be surprised if the plates also belonged to the Astra

If I were to build something up, then it'll be a lot cheaper than ebay, but may not look as snazzy to begin with! I think it'll be free to start with, but with only paypal payments allowed. Even if it is a part for collection, this way everyone is protected! ta, Rich No way would I accept paypal payment on a collected item, far too easy for this to be abused by dodgy buyers

I bought a load of stuff off him when he was breaking his sierra and he seemed genuine, even chucked in some bits for free. You've obviously had a different experience with him but I can only really comment on the dealings I've had with him

I think it would be a great idea if you can pull it off. The main problem I can see is getting enough interest in it straight away. Its all well and good getting it up and running but you need the content on there from the off to get people hooked, they need to be able to see it as a viable alternative to ebay. If you go on it and there isn't a lot for sale it not going to look good to either potential buyers or sellers
it would probably be worth going around as many motoring forums as possible to try and drum up as much interest as possible before hand. Ebay may have its problems but you know that if you list something it has the potential to be viewed by thousands of potential buyers, the more items you have listed, the more people it will look appealing to
user feed back as per ebay would be good too, maybe in each users profile there could be links to any profiles they have on forums?

I'm patiently waiting for sierra's to become a victim of over valued ford syndrome, can't be far off now surely? As opposed to the over valued VW syndrome? some vw's are vastly over valued, but seens as I own more fords than vw's its not really something that I find myself loosing any sleep over

Kev I'll reply in a mo mate
Mt2man, sorry but that really isn't our thing
Swap wise we are after something like a retroish hot hatch or just generally any cool old car may tickle our fancy. Just something we can use as a project over the winter months like we did with this
