Japan was insane as ever, the Endurance Festival we went to at Tsukuba Circuit was absolutely fantastic with so so many 70's on track. I'll put up a separate post about that soon but here's a few from it, Would love a post about this in the general section, it always looks such a great event ( + TS Cup Sunnys ). Car is looking lovely btw. I've uploaded my images to the computer now so I'll compile a post soon! And thank you! this car is literally quintessential! JP Haha awesome comment, thanks very much! Now the feature is out I can post some of the feature images.

Time to replace the standard exhaust! I was just going to have a custom one made as finding a cool after-market system is very hard but really I wanted a more legitimate system. A friend with an AE86 was selling his Fujitsubo system and after studying the paths of both exhausts they run a very similar route! So I snapped it up and it will be getting fitted in the next few weeks! Really excited to hear what it sounds like and there might even be a slight power increase due to the catalytic converter being removed with the old system. Here's a pic And also I got bored of looking at the Work Equip Spirit 11's I won on a Japanese Auction a while back and threw them on the car for a bit.

Loved this style for a long while now. I built a B18 EG for blasting around on track with in 2013. It got featured in Japanese Performance and Honda Tuner. Just before I sold it. Visited Japan again this year and visited a few more garages. Mechadock was pretty cool and Kazu-San was amazing and gave us lots of presents. His EF was badass. And this EG was INSANE loud even just moving it out of the unit! Also one of the many garages we visited was FiveMart (OsakaJDM) Where I bought my Devil Wing Spoiler from for my EG. Their 3rd gen racer is badass! Another 3rd Gen And another EG

1976? Toyota Celica liftback... Damn i've missed out on way too many of these back when they were cheap to get your hands on! I reckon i've missed the boat on them now... This one was a blinder!! Thanks for the snap! I'd never been to that meet before that day, it was pretty good! I was pretty sure I wouldn't be allowed in as the rules were Pre '76 and it said no Japanese lol maybe the guy didn't quite know what it was but who cares I got a space!

Dude, this is awesome! I made that one of my Celica some time ago. Might do a new one though. Some things have changed meanwhile. That's great! Love the details! Definitely update it to how it looks now.

So much win here. Amazing car, really had my heart set on a TA22 before I bought the Dolomite until I realised how much money these things went for now! Thank you very much! Yeah, old Japanese motors are rapidly going up in value! It'd be a very wise time to invest in something! Heh, all that J tin and then there's a Traveller being pushed along at the back. Can't wait to get back to Japan. 'Unfortunately' I'll be up in Hokkaido for the snow so probably won't see much of this sort of thing... Although last year I did see a Mini running around on the snow. I think it might have been one of their Mini K's or whatever, though. Oh, and I have much want for your Celica. Hokkaido will be fantastic! It could have been a Daihatsu Mira Gino they look very similar! The other night I tried to teach myself how to use Adobe Illustrator. I came up with this.

Great progress and good choice on the Louvre. I was also in Japan this summer. There's cool stuff around every corner! Thanks man! Ah nice, where did you visit? I don't think I saw one of those old Bluebirds actually!

Wow. Awesome celica you have. So clean. Nice pics from the japan trip. Something I plan to do one day. Thanking you! I have SO many more pictures and video from the trip! Definitely try to visit, it's just fantastic! Here's the T-shirt Hideo-San gave me! Anyways on with some updates! Chucked in the cup holder I bought from Super-Autobacs, matches my wood effect trim nicely actually! I got back and cracked on with fitting my AE86 coilovers. You can see the difference between old and new rear dampers. I had to buy some slightly longer lower bolts as the bushing was a tad wider. The dampers are slightly thicker than the OEM ones so I had to drill out some of the washers for the top bushings. After some fannying about with the damper heights I got them all in. The front rides SO much nicer but the rear is very bouncy still so I'm going to play around with the damper droop and possibly look into different spring rates. Quick test drive and ride height check. Next job is to tackle the crappy old exhaust system. I have a new system lined up ready to buy after Christmas, genuine Fujitsubo Japanese system that I'm looking forward to getting fitted! Next up after months of searching I found a rear window louvre! The guy was located in Ireland. It's an Aluminium item. Does anyone know the maker? It arrived from Ireland and I had to give it a quick test fit! Absolutely love it! Got a message from Dan, the Editor at Japanese Performance Magazine asking if I'd be up for a photoshoot for a feature on buying, owning and modifying Japanese classic cars. I was well up for that so the next weekend we took a trip up to Milton Keynes to an abandoned petrol station. His images are really nice but I'm not allowed to post them up yet so here's a few I took. The feature should be out next month if it all goes to plan! Looking forward to reading it!

Hi there guys! Thought I'd share some updates with you. At JAE I spoke to Malcolm and he told me about his stockpile of second hand parts he had for Celica's. Me and the girlfriend popped up to see him one evening and collected a MUCH needed Steering idler arm. Also a bonnet trim that I set about polishing up. Next up as an early Christmas present my gf went halves with me on a set of Driftworks CS2 Coilovers . They are for an AE86 and I know I already had '86 front struts and that the rear 4 link is the same so I took a gamble! They arrived the day or so before we flew to Japan. Got all my Yen out that I found in my Celica to spend haha Japan was insane as ever, the Endurance Festival we went to at Tsukuba Circuit was absolutely fantastic with so so many 70's on track. I'll put up a separate post about that soon but here's a few from it, Even managed to score this amazing original JDM catalogue for little money. Whilst in Japan it would have been rude to not go visit the shop that restored my Celica! Met the owner who's a very well respected D1 drifter aka Hideo Itakura. Hideo-san showed me round the whole of his shop and gave me a cool Celica t-shirt and some other goodies and then he even took us to a local car museum and then to lunch to show his gratitude! SO awesome of him! Check out their old Ra28 Drift car that he used to compete in. Over the past few years they've used the 4AGE Turbo you saw behind us. He's just finished a Eunos with a 13BT Rotary in it for next year. Some pics of the shop. Another Liftback in for restoration Then he showed me the most bizarre Celica I'd ever seen! Looks normal enough until.... What the hell is this??? Batteries! Electric motor Electric heater And for you guys that don't know 'Daruma' Is the Japanese nickname for Celica. Daruma is this little guy covering the diff... They are dolls that have no eyes until you write a goal you want to set yourself on it then paint in one single eye, put the Daruma somewhere you'll see it and It'll inspire you to complete your goal. Once you've completed the goal you paint in his other eye.

Very very nice bud, be nice to get a photo of this next to the Sigma one day. Yea man! no you wont find one in NZ, not in that condition. and fix that passengers side park light! it looks awful. rest of the car is looking magic man, keep at it. Oh really? That's interesting, I guess only more modern stuff was imported over the years. Yea that light is on the list! Not quite sure how I'm going to get it sitting right, it must have had a little bump at some point in the last 39 years lol Yeah this things bloody nice, loook forward to seeing it when i'm back from NZ, maybe an old toyota 'spirited drive' is on the cards. Bloody love this. Sure thing man! Well not really an update but just mainly photo whoring! She's been great and the almost 8 hour round trip to JAE and back went perfectly! I am in need of a Steering Idler Arm though as the bush is worn and it's knocking. Spoke to a guy at JAE who is breaking the same car so I'll be making a trip to Cheltenham soon to pick up some parts! I'm also on the look out for some comfortable AE86 Coilovers if anyone knows of any FOR SALE? Oh and there should be a mini feature about the car in next month's Japanese Performance Magazine as I attended the Corolla Brotherhood Meet at Soul RC and Dan took some shots there. So that's exciting! Tried out some snowfoam too! Oh and I also won a pair of wheels on the Japanese Auctions, I just need to find two more that are 8.5j/9j now! It will be near impossible though as they are pretty damn rare Work Equip Spirit 11's. Sat at JAE in the Sunset

hey man, that's a very nice car you've got yourself there! congrats!! don't sell it, you will never find another one that good in a million years. and you certainly wont find one here in NZ like that. good luck with the continuing development of the car. hopefully ill see it in NZ at some point. sheepers. Been having a read of your threads too! Some fantastic work there. You really think there isn't any like mine over there? Whatever happens I do want to keep the car and carry on updating it but making sure it never looses it's 1970's charm. Fantastic! Thank you. I've just had a couple of cans delivered so I'll see how we get on! Hi fella, followed this car over on CCUK .Its a cracker, also loving the little bits and pieces you found inside it LOL Haha yea it was surprising finding all that, most of it was pretty disgusting though hahaha Cheers! Thank you! Oh I like that. Very nice. Thanks a lot! Well it's been a busy few weeks but I've had some time to do some car stuff and go to a few car meets. First thing was going for a drive right after having the carburettors set up. Oh the sound is just fantastic! A few videos on my Instagram @shootall or here's one from YouTube. Then after that I was invited to the Meguiars Secret BBQ where my little bit of vinyl was revealed and I've seen this stripe on old 70s cars and it obviously harks back to the old Advan liveries of the time. I love it, it just adds a bit of fun to it. The Japanese call it a 'Runaway line' Then FINALLY I got the damage fixed! It must have been towed before the car was loaded onto the ship in Japan but the insurance company wasn't having any of it but luckily OPJP who imported the car paid to have the damage fixed and work commenced! You can see how bad it was but no one would ever notice it, I did my best to close the panel gap and touch it up with some white paint just to make it look better whilst we battled the insurance company. Looks pretty horrible. Then the work was carried out and it finally looked great. The work was done by Alan at C&M Motor Services in New Milton. He even made the other panel gap on the passenger side the same. Very happy! With the work done it was time for a drive! Me and a load of my car club went for a drive up to Butser hill and then some munch at West Meon Hut. Then we had a stand at Simply Japanese held at the lovely Beaulieu Motor Museum. Absolutely love driving this thing, the current suspension is very hard so I'm saving for some BC Racing Coilovers at the moment which will transform the car. Can say that the tyres are fantastic though, out perform the cars capabilities haha That's all for now!

Thanks man! proper job! too late to the party, but you might find the headlining starts to sag again unless it was very high temp contact adhesive Yep it's started coming off a little already! Waaa. I'll have to source some, could you recommend a product? Cool, should you ever make it over to Japan, you'll have enough for a couple of beers. I'm going back in October so I shall spend it all haha Apart from the disgusting ones hahaha Had the car fully undersealed last week. Very happy with the job done by Alan at C&M in New Milton. Up on the ramps BEFORE Look how clean she is underneath, you can see why I want to keep it that way! Underseal goes on, he even bent my sill back into place after someone previously had jacked it up in the wrong place so that's mint again now. Very pleased with the result! Then I won some trumpets on eBay for my twin side draughts so I booked carb setup the day after underseal as it was down the road from the garage.

Gen 1 Celica RA25 Cusco Strut Brace. Might fit others, I'm unsure... Tried it on my Ra28 and it hits my EGR valve and unfortunately the bolts just don't quite line up. It came off of the J Performance Parts RA25 Celica Liftback but wouldn't fit with their BEAMS conversion. It has had the ends painted in the Cusco Blue Metallic and the centre coated in powder chrome and an original decal sourced. Where I tried to make it fit my RA28 there are a few marks on the nuts from where I used a spanner but it's not overly bad. Other than that it's like new. I would like £110 for it. Located Near Southampton or can post at buyers expense. Many thanks!

Some more updates! One thing that was doing my head in ever since driving it for the first time was the headlining sagging down and lightly rubbing my head. So I finally got my into gear and pulled the headliner out, which was surprisingly easy and came out in one piece. The old foam backing had aged so much that it had just turned to dust and it used to blow into my eyes sometimes when I drove and I couldn't see! So I bought my supplies to do the job. 1/4 Inch foam, faux suede and some spray adhesive. Cut the foam to size and glued it down with the adhesive. Gf got into housewife mode and got cutting a larger template to the head liner seeing as it's concaved. Spiderman style Chucked the suede on And voila! It's back in and the difference is amazing, it looks so much nicer than the horrid plastic vinyl curse word that was in there. Then after that I took most of my dashboard apart and sourced LED replacement bulbs for the entire dash which should be here in a few days. The standard bulbs were very dim and I could hardly read the gauges. Whilst taking the centre console out I found these hiding. and the other day when I took the front seats out to hoover I found a treasure trove of mainly disgustingness but some cool Japanese artefacts! Like the cool match boxes.

Thank you for all the lovely comments guys! I'm absolutely loving the car! Beautiful car. Is it as solid and straight as it appears in the photos? I can see why you were pleased with it! Thanks man, yes it seems a very well kept example and the underside is crazy clean, no surface rust just black and shiny for the most part! It's getting undersealed in a few weeks time to keep it fresh. Haha thanking you Sir! Oh and if your Mk1's have Allen headed bolts then maybe! Last time I saw them, they were on a Bluebird. No way ahha yeah that's my mates bluebird he's still got them as well! They looked rather sweet on there! Ah you're Freya's friend! Knew I recognised that car! Love these Celica's very high on my want list! Yea Frey is my girlfriend lol Thanks man! saw this at japfest, i was the guy who literally stopped you from driving past until i took a pic great looking car dude. Hahaha no worries! It took me ages to go get sound tested from where my club stand was! Japfest was SO busy but one of my absolute favourite shows of the year. Thanks for that! Had 2 of these. Hopefully yours will have less corrosion than mine did. Has it got the 18RG twin cam? Yea it's pretty clean! It's only done 65000Kms which is like 40K miles! Yes it has an 18R-GU in it. Even has a bloody catalytic converter in it! That'll be being chopped out soon enough! will the Celica be making it to NZ too? I plan to return to NZ in a couple of years, have PR, but would really like to bring my car with me! get onto oldschool.co.nz too. theres a few old celica on that, and if your around auckland the old school members meet in Ellerslie once a month or so Yea when we go I would definitely look at getting the car shipped over and I would like to keep this car long term, well unless I received a silly offer for it! Ha

Welcome to the Club! Very nice car. Thanking you! daym son, that car is unreal! your old cars look awesome as well love the accord with the ssr's! do you still have the wheels or did you sell them? wonder if they're the ones I've got now Haha thanking you Sir! Oh and if your Mk1's have Allen headed bolts then maybe! Last time I saw them, they were on a Bluebird. Oh hello. What a honey. Without divulging numbers, I guess I can safely assume that this RA28, including shipping, was way cheaper than buying one already in the UK? I've no idea, I didn't even look! Just wanted to import one myself and have an Authentic 70's Japanese car. Plus most are in way better condition and I can safely say mine's NEVER been over 60mph/100Kms as there is a VERY annoying bell that sounds as soon as you go over 100kms! HAHA
