Was great to meet you and have a chat! Hope things are well!
That's interesting to know about the new plate law. I was going to run some eventually, chances of being pulled for that in cars of our age is slim to none!
Plate looks good in black, the import plates are 12"x6" if you wanted to get the smaller size. Looks like a UK motorbike size you have.
What's that hiding in front of the Celica in that pic? Looks like it could be fun!

Just read this whole thread start to finish. I'm feeling very inspired at all the hard work you and your small team have put in! Really good read that was and I'm very sorry to hear about the kidney problems, but rest up and you'll be back in that seat in no time at all.
All the best and good luck!

So much want in this thread, are my eyes telling me it's a 180sx with a 240 front grafted on? EDIT - google tells me it is. This colour isn't so bad, the red one on google is bad for your eyes. Haha yes I didn't even realise until a Japanese Gentleman pointed it out when I walked past it the second time! Here's PART TWO of the video!

Well JapFest came and we made it there fine, unlike that poor Supra owner! Sad sight seeing that sat in the bushes on the way in. It was pretty chilly with the bitter wind but plenty to see, although I did miss Combe so hopefully JapDay will be like the old JapFest was. The track time was horrible to be honest, really didn't enjoy it. I put myself into the novice class just because I didn't want to hold up any of the hardcore track guys but still the track etiquette was terrible, after getting used to well organised air field and track days going out there on track with people overtaking anywhere they liked and even one overtaking and one undertaking at the same time it was just plain scary at times. Definitely not doing public track time again, I'll save it for a hill climb or gymkhana. Anyways it was a good show overall and we enjoyed it. Here's some pics from the day. Oh and a couple of pics from an open day we went to at the Wheel Specialist Bournemouth.

Haaaaa glad you liked it! WOW! A whole lotta WANT! Liked the initial commentary on the cars driving by 'ha', 'woah' etc... that would have been my commentary for the whole video haha with a massive grin on my face the entire trip. Part 1....implies more parts to come. Please say yes. Yes indeed and part 2 is even longer! Glad you all have like it so far. I'm actually going to go back to this event again this year so I'll have to do another video!

Thanks all for the comments! Another update! Found myself a Japanese Roll cage from James (jamesie) a member with another Gen 1 Celica on this forum. It's from a Ta22 but the rear legs are removeable so I'm just going to get new rear legs made for it. It came with some cool Japanese decals! One is Shonan Bakusozoku which is a Japanese Anime about a biker gang and the other is from a Bosozoku magazine.

Well I finally plucked up the courage to stick the mounting plate for my rear window louvre on to the car. It tucks under the rubbers and then I clear siliconed it in place. I couldn't find any imperial thread pitch nuts to fix the louvre to the mounting plate but after a mate getting a very old Meccano set out of his loft the nuts fitted! Haha Very happy with it! Also gave the engine bay a little spruce up!

This is just fantastic. The pics of it sat in Japan and racing are amazing.
Just looks so badass and authentic.
Going to be following this build closely! The engine is going to sound incredible with all the race parts, pretty exciting!

Righty ho! Time for some more 1970s goodness! I kept seeing modified Japanese 70s cars with a glitter finish on some parts of their exterior. Like so: Absolutely love the look of it and I LOVE the fact it's a period correct modification. So I set about removing all the parts that I wanted coated in the disco paint. Also I thought while the badges were all off I would have them repainted as putting wornout badges back on fresh paint would have been a bit silly. So they came off: After a few days they came back from the paint shop and wow what a finish, repainted in black with the glitter clearcoat. VERY happy! From a distance you would hardly know but as soon as sunlight lands on it they explode in colour. Check out this video as it's much easier to see the finish, when taking a picture it's so hard to show what it's like. Here's with the front panel and grill fitted Got the badges all back, they couldn't do the very small black detailing so I'll have to think about what I'm going to do there. Still look WAY better than they did! Then chucked them on I'll take some better pictures as soon as we have a nice sunny day and then hopefully you can see it! The finish is 200 times better than what it was though!

Man those mock up wheels are the tits! I've never seen that done before, fantastic idea!
Amazing you're doing it all yourself, it looks brilliant. Those GT style door cards came out perfect!
I'm just as excited to see how those Equips look as you no doubt will be! Good man for not just getting replica rota wheels.
Keep it up!

Awesome! I was tagged in the auction images on Facebook and thought it looked cool.
Can relate to the terrible bumpy ride, mine came with silly cut down springs and it was SO harsh.
Now I'm running a 3kg/mm rear lowering spring and uprated damper with AE86 Driftworks HSD Coilover units but the front springs are still too stiff (8kg/mm) so for £50 they can supply 5kg/mm which should help me out.
AE86 struts work but the top hats will need to be S14/S13 or widen the holes in the strut tower to get the AE86 ones to fit.
Are your bumpers metal or fibre glass? Cool to see they've been colour coded like mine, I think it modernises it a little.
Hopefully catch you and the car at a show this year!

Cheers guys! I'm loving it! Just whoring a few more pictures. Went to a local raceway that had a Japanese night and I ended up winning best retro and going home with £100. Well chuffed!

Thanking you guys!!! Well it's time for an exhaust update. To put it bluntly, the AE86 exhaust that looked like it'd work just was going to be too much work to get it to fit. Sooo I got a few exhaust quotes from a few garages and once I was happy with the price and service I booked the car in. Had a good chat with the exhaust builder about what I wanted. Replace the catalytic converter for an oval silencer, carry on the 2" mainifold tubing all the way through the system and have it come out in a twin tail pipe arrangement. They ordered in a box for me that has one inlet and two outlets as I 100% didn't want a backbox, Y pipe and then two tips, that looks terrible. The guy explained that the tips would slightly sweep over to the right to fit into the bodywork cut out. I'm very very happy with how it sounds and looks! It's throaty and badass at tickover and normal driving it sounds so bloody good, then when you get up to 70mph in 5th then the exhaust goes almost silent! Perfect! Here's a video of before and after
