500 quid for a manual turbo 300zx sounds an absolute bargain, tax and test too!
I'd like to agree you can't go wrong at that price. Have to ask though, how come your mate was selling it at such a price?

Agreed on 16i's being cooler than S1s, my favourite fwd ford I'd love a 16i or a 3 door estate, combining is an excellent idea

I see that it removes the possibility of launching a car, but I'd say it's at least as dangerous due to you having to reach over the spinning tyre to get to the rim.
If the tyre was off it would be much safer. Less inertia, less likely to grab anything that touches it.

I bet that's quiet! Unusual to see a Pike's Peak car without aero kit these days... off I go to look at old Pike's Peak racers.

I'm going out to Belfast on Thursday with work, returning Sunday/Monday.
I'll have a few KGs spare on the plane so any smallish parts welcome.
I live in Mansfield but will probably be spending more time in Sheffield this week, so I can meet around either.
I don't know Belfast, and I'm stuck around where I'm working - near the new Titanic Museum.

I tried something similar in a van I had. Obviously you need ac power to run regular pa gear, which means (expensive) inverters. Inverters are generally not good enough for audio applications though, as the sine wave they produce is pretty shocking - meaning a horrible buzzing sound through your gear. I've just thought though, if you use a passive desk, I can't see why you couldn't use a car amp and speaker system. Designed to run on 12vdc and won't have a nasty buzzy sound. Edit to say: obviously you're still left without guitar amps due to no ac power, but fx pedals could be used to get some kind of tone. Then just plug in the desk. Won't sound good, but would work

^^ strictly speaking, no. There are however companies online who make plates to all the legal requirements (font, size etc...) with any numbers you like for 'show purposes' only.
I used such a company recently, simply because it was cheaper and easier than doing it on the high street. IIRC though, the postage indicated the plates were from the Isle of Mann... Don't know if that helps them legally.

Could you take it to a 'no win, no fee' type place? There's a couple popped up around me (north notts) in the last few years. Tough call though, I can understand you not wanting to cause a friendly business any trouble, but they're more likely to 'encourage' the car to pass.

Track driver magazine did a feature in the last issue on how the new rules will affect modified cars, using a track prep'ed Clio 182 as an example.
It's available free either in print by delivery or electronically. I recommend it, lots of technical features and advice for preparing and driving track cars.
