Just very occasionally, I've heard a loud rattle when starting the Granada from cold, which stops very quickly and there's a squealing belt at low revs. But today, the rattle was persistent (although not consistent), battery light was flashing on and off, belt squeal was also persistent and power steering is heavy at some points. After a quick look under the bonnet, it looks like a vibration from the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. Is this likely to be just the pulley being loose, or something more dramatic (and therefore expensive)?

No pic, but cream Daimler V8 250 (same shape as Mk2 Jag) heading west on the M2 Medway Bridge about 5.45pm tonight. Looked fairly ropey, so maybe dragged out of a barn/garage/unit?

Drop it off at the local car wash, give the keys to any one of three very pleasant Eastern European chappies, go and have breakfast, come back, give them £20, go home. Job done. Do most of these places actually do a decent job? There's loads around here but always been wary what the quality would be like, based on what they charge.

All my previous cars have a) been dog rough, and barely worth washing at all and b) never got as filthy as this, so it's never been an issue before. But if a normal wash isn't going to cause too much damage, then I'll go with that.

I'm sure you've all seen the reports about the Saharan sand that's been blowing in the wind, and I bet a lot of you have had it settle on your car! So what's the best way to get rid of it? There's meant to be heavy rain on Sunday, would it be best to wait for that and hope it washes it all off? I'm loath to wash it with water and a sponge, because I'm sure that risks scratching the paintwork, so is a jet wash better to try and blast it off? I bet the valeters are rubbing their hands with glee

Don't think anyone attended the March one (too busy looking at deer in Richmond ) so this month will be the third meet. Hope to see you there!

Cheers, chaps. Grove Garage looks like they might be just the ticket.

Turned mine into a camper for last year's RR Gathering. Had cooker in it an all. You might have seen it - was the big black one ;-) I wasn't there, but would love to see some pics!

I've always hoped to find an old hearse with the fittings stripped out, then fit a lifting roof and a camper interior...

My local jack-of-all-trades garage has let me down once too often, and I'm now looking for an alternative. There are quite a number nearby, thanks to the plethora of railway arches, but from the outside, none really inspire me with confidence! I don't need anything complicated done, general servicing and fettling, some advice on possible mods maybe. I'd do a lot of it myself, but with no drive or garage and no space to keep ramps or a jack, it's a bit difficult! Does anyone have a good garage in East or North-East London that they'd recommend, ideally that specialises in Fords? I live in Forest Gate, but work in King's Cross, and although I don't drive to work it wouldn't be a hardship to drop it off one day and pick up the next. Going out the other way, anywhere out as far as Romford would do.

Agree with EmDee about the mirrors, I think the realtionship between the wheelbase and the wheels doesn't quite work either. Maybe stretch the wheelbase a touch, or reduce the wheel size a touch?

The foam dash top in the Granny has become unstuck from the top edge of the instrument binnacle. Is there an easily available glue that will fix it, or some super-strength sticky tape? Or is it something that only trimmers or restorers would have?
