Time for a little update I guess.
A few things have happened since last time, swmbo and I bought the house we've been renting in the last two years, so some time has been spent cleaning up the place a little bit.
Have a two months old picture of the house:
So some hours have been spent cleaning up the veranda before oiling it:
BUT, things have also been moving along with the car.
I finally could afford tyres for my Borbet 9X16ET30 wheels.
The only alternative I found was Dunlop SP9000 in 225/45ZR16 size, witch is the same size I had a few years ago.
It was great tyres, low noise and high comfort along with good grip.
Plus the car looks good with the borbets.
I also finally fixed the blowing exhaust, changed the left rack and pinion gaiter, left steering joint, and finally got to install the large atlas 3:44 rear axle with 9" drums.
The old 1.6 4.11 axle with 8" drums is the grey one:
Here you can see on the right side that I also did a little altitude adjustment on the rear springs to get the wheels to sit level with the arches, as it was a little bit high in the back:
Quite a difference in size yes?
Here is the 3:44 rear end in place:
So, when all that work was completed I went down to a weekend at the track at the "sommertreff" at Arctic Circle Raceway in Mo I Rana in northern Norway.
It's 370km's south of where I live and south of the polar circle.
I was planning on driving on the track the whole weekend, but on my way down there the rear brakes started sticking and heating up, so I decided against driving on the track.
But I displayed my car throughout the weekend at the Norwegian Ford Club stand along with some nice fords, so the weekend was not a total waste.
I camped next to my cousin's camp, he was there to drive on the track with his '79 BMW 745I Turbo.
I got to ride with him a few times and it was awesome fun.
Here is some pictures.
11.1 litre V8 Mustang II (700cui+) that was camped next to our camp:
2JZ GTE powered RWD Ford Focus
Nice MKII, YB-powered:
Ford Escort Cosworth:
Ford Focus with a cool stereo setup:
Nice '34 ford delivery rat rod:
Ford Sierra/Merkur 3dr with a souped up 350 chevy:
This is from the Norwegian Ford Club stand at the track, where I displayed my Taunus for the most of the weekend:
A few pictures in and around our camp. My tent is the tall blue one.
You can also spot my Cousin's dark blue 745I in a few of the shots,
and also my friend's red W123 240 diesel:
Well into friday night's bbq session:
This was the prettiest Opel Ascona A I've EVER seen!
Pure awesomeness! Probably 9X16" wheels with 215/35/16 tyres:
More randomness:
260Z with a r33 skyline gts driveline:
Skyline R33 GTS belonging to a friend of mine:
This Corvette supposedly had 1100hp (it sure sounded like it):
Lots and LOTS of turbobricks:
And lastly but not least, have a picture of my car taken 4am in the morning before going to bed in my tent:
Enjoy a video from the weekend:
The event was great, but there wasn't enough retros after my taste, just an aweful lot of e36 m3's, s13's, s14's, many skyline gts, and a LOT of 240/740/940 turbobricks from Volvo.
I still had a great time though
Until the next weekend at the track 27th august this year you can look at my old vids from when I attended in 2006:
This is the best vid of the series I made, in this video I had my best laptime of 2:01 on an 3.7km long track with 105 horses at the flywheel:
Enjoy
