Ok I got a cabinate blaster today but need a few hints / tips
I got a bucket of glass beads with it
Now this is my first time using a blaster and maybe I am doing something wrong
But I did a few peaces like cam pullies/ an alloy thermostat housing and they came up ok
Then I stick in an old alloy wheel and it was struggling to take the paint off
Can some one recomend a more abracive media that won't wreck my cabinate ?

the way I did it last time in my manta it didnt last very long due to me not tightning the bolts on the turbo housing and the inside of the turbo hitting the compressor housing
so 2 head gaskets
a polo cold start injector plumbed off the main fuel rain
a pressure switch
an intercooler
and some stainless bends
as for the oil lines ect I used home heating oil buner hoses lol
and a greedy b spec 2 boost controller and a xs power waste gate
thinking off using alot off this stuff again but apart from that would love any tips / advice you guys have to offer

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, were do I begin, The droop snoot is staying witht the original engine as from what I know it is a Blydenstein fast road engine with port matched 48 Delortos and cam etc. The engine that is the minor In the second picture is a 1293 with big valve head and mg midget gearbox (Quick enough when I was on my R's) The engine has since been removed but hoping to do a minor project sometime and will put it back in. The workshop atm is just a bare shell, me and my dad are building it slowly but we are getting there. And yes I am from Northern Ireland (ballymena area). And would consider selling the Hc, I contacted you a few weeks back CARMAD on jon44w.com. Small Word Once agin thanks for the warm welcome, will keep everyone posted sorry lad I didnt realise there was a viva on gum tree during the wee and I must have got 30 messages from diffrent people

Ok say you didn't want to use fancy after Market management / boost controllers
how would one go about plumbing up a fifth injector ect on a standard multi point fuel injection engine

i forgot to take a pic off that fitting for you but pm me you address i will post ya one
do you mean the wee pipe that comes off the slave cylinder to the flexi?
its just the same as a standard brake pipe fitting
i am doing something similar with mine but i was just going to use a brake pipe flexi then pipe it in copper same as you would to a wheel / hub / caliper

if you have a look at my vxr hc viva thread you will see i used a manta axel
not the best option but more parts available
few options i have looked at are
ford escort capri ect
volvo
mazda rx7
then the big old american camareos ect and the 4x4 and vans
they are all a nightmare to fit and will prob cost as much to fit as one off those ohc axels

Looking good mate I had probs when it came to painting the rocker cover on my last XE, used engine enamel in the end still had a slight orange peely effect but was bloody hard wearing! If your using bits of that eco-tech hybrid.......whats gonna be going in the HC ? Steve 2 totally diffrent eco wrecks ;D my hc is a different project and it has a complete vxr astra engine no sneaky hybrid bits

paul the valves ect were cleaned i just didnt take a pic ok so today was mostly scrubbing bits and sanding till my arms were sore so I started with the dip stick and breather tube after a night soaking it so petrol and thinner mix so a short while later and some halfords rattle cans this happened next up the oil pump it was working fine but needed a clean up so I cleaned it and stuck it on with a new gasket # then a new oil cooler sandwich plate and a nice new oil filter sanded and sprayed up the timing gear back plate forgot to take a before pic then I stuck the cams in and hydrolic lifters nice clean back plate on sanded and sprayed the rocker cover tho not very happy with the finish and how it sits now
