Nope, exact opposite really. I have 2 classics, one for over 10 years, the other about 5. Never want rid of either, I plan to have them as long as I can afford to. I spend a long time making sure I really want something before I buy it. Maybe you just haven't found the right car yet. Does it have any parallels with other things in your life? ?

Are you storing the car? dynax UC is clear when compared to a traditional underseal but in reality it will be very visible. As ultimate protection I can see why they recommend it but if the car is in use, I wouldn't dream of using dynax on the outer panels. Any protection needs to be put on top of spotlessly clean panels, otherwise you run the risk of trapping all sorts underneath, and causing scratches when you have to remove it. What corrosion on the panels are you afraid of? If you have stone chips or worse, you are far better treating them, then using Bilt Hamber autobalm which gives very good invisible protection.

The hot hatch largely made coupes redundant. Objectively, they were doomed.

I've done the same thing. I'll take some pics of it when I get chance. Pretty straight forward in the end but I'm not sure it would get past the FiA! Is your seat base mounted?

I would do it for your enjoyment but do some sums too, to make sure your motivation and the potential are aligned. I.e. work out how long it will take to offset cost of project. x,000 miles with a x% improvement in economy at £x per gallon of fuel. vs. Cost of mods. Not saying Don't do it, just be sure you know itis worth your while.....

Best set of photos I have ever seen come out of that show Dan. I have given up on going because of the crowds but they do remind me how good it can be. That Burton Power Anglia is just awesome!

There are regulations as to the max and min distance of lights from the edge of the vehicle. As long as within these distances then I can't see any problem. Isn't that just for SVA? An MOT doesn't check so not sure how those rules would ever apply or be enforced on a car unless it needed SVA?

My dad had 2 Montego estates so some happy memories, although they were quite curse word frankly. He also then had a couple of 800 Vitesse so I know how good the engine is. Love a sleeper so I would never go wilder......

I have ok lighting in the garage but for most jobs I find I am working in a shadow so I just wear a head torch. For a £12 investment, I think it worth a try. If it's not enough for you, then go to the hassle of fitting other lights, but you still have a useful head torch anyway. Try the ones from Alpkit.

Post a picture and the wonderful free market economy will tell you what it is worth. Simple.

I nearly went to this but copped out because it seemed a long way to go. Based on this thread though, it will happen soon. Lovely photos, helped by great cars and a great backdrop, but all credit to your skills too!

I would seriously think about doing it yourself.I rebuilt mine, with the help of the relevant book. I' m a bit of a mechnanical idiot and even I managed it. Takes time, which for someone else equals money.....

Wow! Stunning. So many amazing ideas being played through such variety. The one car that I think I would choose to run in my life right now, would be that Fairlady. Great show, great thread.

I was there on Sunday, ticketless at 9am when we met Dan, content with spending the day 'over the road'. By 9:30 I had bought one ticket for £40 and been given another for free. If I'm honest, with wife and little 'un in tow, we didn't see all that much racing but I still loved the whole thing. The car park is well worth the trip on it's own, I can't think of a better collection of great cars. Less of the modified, more of the timeless classic, but actually that is becoming far more appealing in my middle age. Amazing event.

Dan, there is nowt wrong with those photos! Lovely shots, really catch the spirit of the event. So much so, you just inspired a change of plan. We don't have tickets but were planning on going down to the 'over the road' area, to get some of the fun, but now, after being reminded how good it really is, I am trying to get some last minute tickets! Have fun there tomorrow.

Sounds like you have nothing to lose by trying it. If you decide it isn't for you then just buy another daily. No risk unless the Yaris you will have to move on is irreplaceable.

As much as there are too many navy blazers and Panama hats at such events, there is some damn fine stuff in that lot!

Love it Charlie! If I'm honest, I don't personally feel the scene hype around a lot of 70's Japanese saloons when you can get comparable Brit stuff that is cheaper and cool too. This coupe is different however, a great shape, and your plans will create a bit of a weapon I'm sure. Very cool project!
