Yeah I think just stripping the wiring back to bare nothing to try find that spark is the way to go. Then start adding the cutout wire back in... Personally, Id dissconect everything you added. Like I mentioned about the wire getting caught, Its so easy to do, I think I managed it 3 times...
Even try it with just coil, To old "broken" condensor, to points, Set the gaps, Chuck it all back together and see if you have spark,
If you do, Then add the extrernal condensor again and recheck, If you still have spark, Ad the cutout wire back into the mix.... hours worth of work that might narrow it down to a split wire or a condensor thats earthing out somehow?
As for puch freedom.... I rode it in the rain, In the frickin dark last night!!! haha...
Didnt intend too , But left my grandparents house a little later than expected, The rain came down so I slowed down a little to a nice steady 35/40... And it got all dark and overcast... wasnt nice... Still rode fine though ;D
Oh and if you havnt allready, 42 tooth sprocket on the back... WINNER!!! itll do 30 like its on tickover, Still pull up to 45 strong, Has more left in if if you can stomach it haha

Yeah I'll get on all that, fault eliminating session coming up Can't imagine it'd be nice in the dark and rain! What gear you got, armoured jacket etc? With the 42 tooth sprocket, did you just use the same chain? I'll Defo do it but after I've had it on the road as is for a bit for some comparison! Acceleration affected much?

Acceleration was a little slower, But i adjusted the clutch and got alot better results than with the original sprocket. Pulls away quicker, And doesnt slip on hills.. ;D

Ordered a new head the other day, 70cc highcompression one. My original 50cc one that seemed great was having some leaky decomp valve issues... Just fitted it... No noticeable difference But on a slightly more interesting note... It tried to kill me ;D Going about 30, Let off early (luckily) for a corner, And the throttle stayed wide open haha..... The brakes may not be good but they slowed it down enough to get the kill button pressed... I'm going to move that to a more thumb-able position now

Haha wicked.... Supprised anyone still knows that pedal and pop thing... Oh and a slight update, Rode it over to my grandads again today to help him out with his raleigh twenty, Ended up going on further into a local town to get a 3 speedcable for him. The 70cc head has made it SLOWER! 36 flat out... 50 head is going back on... I think its down to the clutch in someways though, It seems to be slipping, So I'm going to get a little technical with setting that up... Involving weighing each shoe, and somehow measuring the tention of each spring so they all fly out and engage at the same time... Then ordering some bing jets, And run the 17mm on it, with a 17mm front sprocket... Any more tuning on the engine would end up prooving a little fruitless after that i think... Definatly supprising how much you need to play with it to get it "right" though... I loved it at first , And still realy do enjoy riding it, Its just the clutch that lets it down, and the top end now after "tuning" on the advice of moped army people My way of looking at it is, 50cc head, Smaller area for bang =higher compression.... So I'm going to try the magnum x head tommorow

Booked me CBT, month saturday - seems a busy time! No excuse for the bike not bein tiptop by then When you pull your clutch lever and walk with it does the back week lock up on compression? Mine does and it has a 70cc head on it?

Cool... Does seem a busy time doesnt it Yeah, And its a jolly pain in the backside to kick over on pedals... I had to sand the pressure plate down on the starterclutch with realy course paper to get it to bite enough... It revs like hell. Once the clutch is engaged it pulls pretty good.. And on a flat road its pretty damn quick. But on a slight incline or pulling away from a stop, Its all rev and no go. And although I put some of it down to the clutch( soon to be reworked) Its alot down to the "high comp " 70cc head. As with the 50cc head it was miles better....

Went for a nice early morning ride today.. ;D Got up earlier than normal for me on a sunday. Alot due to to some pre Interview nervousness for tuesday... Que nice empty roads, (appart from the horsey types) Sun and nice country lanes around Durley... I'm up to 120.5 miles on the odometer now. Which equates to around 160miles on this bike since building it as the original speedo racked up a few before the "NEW" cable broke... Ive also figured that i can get a steady 37mph out of it without running the float dry. A niggle of this carb seems to be that if i reset the float level to give me more fuel, It overflows. If i set it higher for that reason its to restricted and runs out of fuel after a good 45mph blast and i have to let off to fill the bowl up again before i can re-open the throttle.. (more on curing this later) In durley In Horton heath Was trying to figure out what this was behind the fence.... Also this evening after putting the boat back together, I had the urge to try a MOCKUP of the 17mm carb and the manifold from my magnum engine.... I knew i get to use that NOS speedwell filter on somthing oneday ;D Only problem with this was the fact the Inlet manifold is from the Magnum's Cast cylinder. Meaning that it wont fit without slotting one of the holes out. I was going to do this, But the manifold gets quite restrictive at one end. So i decided to crack on making my own... Obviously yet to be finished as i have to cut the centre hole, And weld it all up. Give it a good paint and so on... The tubing is the perfect size, And has a nice wide curve and no restrictions, And is made from the handlebars off an old Puch gents bike... So kinda in keeping ;D More later...

Manifold completed today... ;D Finished up the welding yesterday and flared the end out slightly to make it a little snugger. Then i coated the welds and the flared end in chemical metal to make it air tight, Then sanded it back to get a nice uniform shape. Painted it up in highheat black engine paint... Gonna give it a fit up and see how the carb behaves tommorow (underjetted) In other news.... I think ive blown the clutch up Coming back from a mates tonight pootling along at 30ish Opened it up for a 40stretch and the clutch unstuck and it reved out. Let off a little and got it to balance out at 35 and it wont go over that as the motor makes the clutch slip.... Realy not looking forward to what I'm gonna find in there tommorow
