Pics to follow But......
at the weekend I went to Modified National at Rockingham Raceway.
Not much interesting tin on show, a nice Plymouth Road Runner, few tasty cosworth sierras and that's about it really.
The campsite is about 2 miles from the raceway, so at morning I loaded the van up ready to take it over to the club stand for display.
In the que, I noticed a couple of things.... my coolant gauge was reading hot, and my rad fan wasn't kicking in.
So as not to cook the engine, I pulled in and went out back to investigate. I'd just changed the tank the previous day to ensure it was all OK, but though I may be loosing fluid due to a loose hose or something.
So I lifted the engine lid, all seemed tight.
Grabbed a thick rag and placed my hand on the metallic expansion tank lid, RED HOT, I'll let that cool.
As I backed away, the metal from the lid melted the plasic retaining lid and the coolant went off in my face like a volcano , being a pretty quick thinker, I took my T shirt off, covered in to mineral water (all I had) and placed in on my shoulder and face.
I've got some snap's from the hospital its not too serious, but I want to rest now, so I'll pop em on later.
Nothing too serious, thanks to my BRILLANT girlfriend who kept me calm until the medical team from Rockingham arrived, my friends Pete and Dave for keeping me still and keeping water on my burns, and of course the medical team of both Rockingham Raceway and Kettering General Hospital who attended to my burns. It'll all heal, but it hurts.
So folks, if its getting hot, before you open the bonnet, please let it cool for a fair old while , you really don't want what I've got.
