Damn damn darn- someones done it! I have so many photoshops and sketches of how cool my SEC would look chopped over huge chromes, and someone has done it. It's way out of my financial reach at the moment, but I really want to go down and see how the chop and tubbing was done. Fan-bloody-tastic! Link Here

Proportions look absolutely spot on, wouldnt have expected that! How much has been taken out do you know? And half way through fitting four toilets..... you'd better raise your game Gotwood

Christoff... it might have been started, but it hasn't been finished yet... who knows how long that'll take... you might still be the first!

Oh well, doesnt matter, it would be interesting if you did yours in your own style. It would be great to see the outcome of both if you were to do it too. It looks like a great car to chop too, I'm loving this guys effort.

Nice work. Proper custom bodywork. Nice. Loving the pillarless look too, hope he can get it to seal right...
Tom, you need a ghetto install in your sled!

Yeah that looks great, and I thought Merc had got it right in the first place, one of my fave shapes. Rims are a bit big on that one.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Ooof! That looks spot on. Not usually a fan of huge c0ck-waving "bling" rims but they just work on that (I think). Love the ICE install too.

ive got the serious horn for an SEC now, i can get insured on the 5.0 for less than a fiesta ;D ;D ;D
only thing thats putting me off is repair bills and services etc? do the break much? how much are parts for them?
dads an air conditioning engineer so anything ac based shouldnt be a worry

Nah, easy to maintain (so long as you don't get the idle problem!), as parts are cheap from the many Merc breakers dotted around the country.
As for insurance - go for classic insurance - the 3.8 SEC is group 14 so easy to insure - the 5.6 SEC is a little more expensive at group 20... But I'm old now, so can insure most things cheap enough!
If you get a good one, it'll be a huge amount of car for not a lot of dosh.
