Let's have a whip round and buy an RR DMC-12. 160 x £100 and we are there. I'm in! Haha!
The Delorean has to be in my top 3 favourite cars ever. Iconic, and awesome. It's the brushed stainless steel bodywork that I love the most I think - Only really properly appreciated in the flesh! Not to mention the gull-wing doors, interior, and the wheezing PRV lump is quite hilarious - Kind of adds to the quirky appeal although if I had one it would be stroked and blown I reckon (or replaced with a 20b rotary engine).

I would love to own a delorean, but deffo want it as standard, not to BTTF spec, it looks a bit odd really. Unless it really flies of course!
Really like those shots of all those deloreans in a line but some are much higher in the air than others? Is that the standard height and the rest are lowered?

The USDM/European spec had different suspension... And I agree, deffo standard!
I can see the point of the BTTF replica's but they are not for me!

i missed out on one a few years ago for £2500, just didn't have the money. Even if the same offer came up again now I still couldn't put my hands on that sort of cash.

That must have been a right two and eight! I have been watching the market for the last 10 years (since I passed my test basically!), and I have probably only seen about 3-4 for sale for less that £10,000.00.

I bloody love them! Not other car that sums up the 80s so well. I will definitely own one at some point, without a doubt. A standard one would be nice, but what I'd really like is a slammed one with a big single turbo conversion running on larger image reps of the original wheels.
The main thing that puts me off though is the attention it would get. Even in a Capri you can't get peace without some alleged know-it-all at a petrol station wanting to lecture you on how his dad's uncle's dog once has a 3.8 Laser JPS Brooklands Special with a bag of concrete in the boot..... The mind boggles at the sheer lever of flux capacitor 'jokes' that would have to be endured! I'm still going to do it though ;D

I bumped into the local secretary of the DeLorean association a couple of weeks ago. He told me they're having the 30 year anniversary gathering this year in Belfast. He told me a web address for it, but I can't remember it, and I can't find anything after a brief Google.

A guy who plays out of the same golf club as my Dad has one as a daily driver. He's driven it daily in the town I'm from for years so I grew up seeing it quite often.
I'm not sure what a typical DeLorean owner looks like but this guy is an old school engineer (tweedy jacket, pens in his outside pocket, reasonably bushy mouser) and looks like he would be more at home in an MG.
Might be interesting to find out from him if it's an 'easier' classic to own than maybe an MGB or something.

I'm a big fan If I had the cash spare I would definately have one. BTTF replicas are not for me though, mine would have to be standard.

AFAIK no gold ones were made. Like the black ones and the red ones they would be repainted ones. The red one seen on eBay in the UK is painted red because it got all the panels dinged and it was too much of a job to straighten it, so it was filler and paint like a normal car repair. So I am told.
My mates is the stock US V6 and while its no L98 it seems able to shift what is a big heavy cruiser around at a reasonable lick. Its no slower than the Mercedes SL coupe of the same vintage for example.

AFAIK no gold ones were made. There were a three gold ones made, but they were actually gold plated, made for American express or something, i think the third one is/was still for sal eand has never been on the road.. at 150K+ I'm not surprised www.deloreans.co.uk/rare-dmc/index.html
