Becc and Derek, thankyou for taking the time to comment in such dreadful circumstances. I'm glad that seeing what a well respected and well liked member of this community Simon was has been some comfort to you.
I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. My thoughts are with you and everyone affected by this tragedy.

Shocked to see this. I looked up to Simon for his creativeness with his cars and his ability to get it right every time. A serious loss for the world.

Hi All
Si's funeral will be at 12pm on the 17th March, from 1 pm there will be a 'car meet' at Hinkley Golf Club, where there will be car parking set aside and a buffet inside. Becc would like to know numbers in advance for car parking allocation and catering, we also need to let the local police know, although they have already said this will be fine.
If anyone intending to come could sign up by Saturday 5th March, that would be great.

My sincere condolances to all his family.
I saw the thread and just assumed that someones car had failed the MOT, but it kept appearing at the top and thought it was time I read it, very sad news indeed.

Hi derek simonsdad thanks to you and beccs for taking a minute at this awful time to register and talk to us on retro rides, I along with countless others never actually met simon but did have many conversations with him about japanese cars , he was a mine of infomation and always forthcoming with advice and banter , it is only now I and i,m sure others realise how little we knew about him , his work,his other hobbies ,music tastes, etc etc ,over time if it was appropriate I for one would like to know a bit more about simon , if derek or beccs or old freinds feel like telling us i,m sure it would help us all to paint a picture in our heads of simon , only last week my new purchase mitsubishi sapporo got a 'WINNAR' from simon , that alone means a hell of alot coming from him and will inspire me throughout its build , thanks again derek , johnI'm sure Simon would be happy for us to divulge a bit more about himself. Aswell as a car enthusiast one of Simons other passions would be music definitly. ChrisT could be more specific on his tastes as they share the same taste and knowledge of rock. One of my favorite memories of me, Chris and Si involved some headbanging to some tune or other coming from Chris s Xr2 (was it?) along time ago . A little cloudy due to our amount of drinking but always a good night. After the bar had shut, the three of us in the front seat of the XR2 with the CD changer full of 80's rock on random (Junkyard, Cinderella, Motley Crue, Love/Hate etc) Good times  and here's something I found the other day (2nd from the left)....  looking back at the good times is certainly helping me through this. |

I'd held off posting on this thread, largely cos I didn't know what to say but thought I'd drop in now as we (the RR Sussex contingent) had our regular monthly pubmeet tonight and raised a toast to Simon, chatted about the cars he built and what an all round top bloke he was. He'll be sorely missed around here but moreso by his family & friends who clearly thought the world of him - godspeed buddy.

Alongside, getting engines and the like sorted, one of the funniest memories was at JapShow a number of years ago. A topless guitar rendition of Black Betty must have felt like a good idea after copious amounts of tequila but the highlight was the air guitar solo which ended in him falling through the bbq. Good times. And those will be sorely missed but happily remembered! |

RIP  I've not posted anything till now as I was one of the people who never knowingly met HKP/SB Though I've just realised I chatted to him via PM. He really did seem very nice, talented and cool as a result. He was an inspriration and will be sadly missed. Maybe an "understated cool" award in his honour, as that's what his cars were. Nothing flash, nothing outlandish just downright cool. So I echo what some other people have said including SS as above. If anything any award in his name would be given out it should be (IMO) for a car less obvious, with a nice clean formula of mods and then ideally owned by someone really nice and modest in the sideline, not the spotlight, someone unique and quietly inspiring. What a loss, but a real legacy.  My thoughts and best wishes go out to family and friends. |

He may be gone but never will he be forgotton after the epic coolness he gave to RR. It feels just plain wrong not seeing his name popping up in threads. If I was closer I would do the run in his honour. I will however offer any assistance I can from afar. Our thoughts are with his family in this troubled times.
Si is already sorely missed.

I'd just like to add another RIP for a well respected J' car nut. I'd never had any banter with Simon but noticed his avatar and posts before I drooled over most of the metal he was interested in. My thoughts are with his family, friends and the rest of the RR community who were lucky enough to have spent some time with the guy  |

Not much i can add to the already vast amounts on here.
Never met the guy, but going from his posts on here he seemed to be one of the genuine ones.
Sorry to hear he is gone, he will be missed by all on here.
My condolonces to his family and close friends.
Can a mod or someone in charge possibly set up a paypal account for donations ?
i would be more than willing to chuck some money to help pay for funreal expenses etc at this difficult time, as I'm sure many people on here would.
