After the seaside meet earlier today I thought that seeing as I am already freezing cold, I might as well do the anti-roll bar bushes after the meet (bit of weird logic there ). So out came the 1/2 inch spanners and 7/16inch sockets (bolts are different sizes on each bracket), and the bushes were replaced with Superflex bushes (better handling?) as the pair of them only cost £17.70 posted . Thankfully I bought the brackets off Superflex too, as the original bracket on the offside was too big for the new bush. So now it just needs the brake hose to buy/fit/bleed, the exhaust leak to find/fix, then its off for another mot (free retest runs out tomorrow so wont be able to fix in time ) Then I have to make the car presentable for next weekend as it will be a sort of 'support vehicle' for the Tynemouth to Alnwick "Ride of Respect" (see below for info and to donate) www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=140363969359036www.rideofrespect.co.uk/

Surprising how much difference getting the paint matching roughly makes. Definitely has the potential to be a mean looking old thing or conversely a shiny floaty boat. Good weather is coming too, plenty of opportunity to get tinker time in

Riding my bike through town yesterday and a bright yellow HQ wagon sat down low on Tridon slot mags with a supercharger air intake sticking out the bonnet rolled by- i gave the fella thumbs up. wow it sounded nice with the belt whine and the v8 rumble. Just sooooooo grand.

I'm glad you're getting along well with this, must be ace to burble around in Its strange, but you don't care what speed your doing, so end up rumbling around the coast at 20mph and just losing yourself in that noise

Long time, no updates, but will say that I have ordered some bits from Australia (seals, trim, chrome, catches, but mainly repair panels for the bodywork). I also have a set of these sitting in the garage (already mentioned previously, but didnt have pics)...

How's this car going now then? Has it been sold? I'm still holding a driver's door and three mirrors for it! Let me know if you need them posted over! ;D

Cool car to be seen driving in the UK-Saw a couple in Greece in the early 90's. Petrol cost may be an issue if it was your daily. Did my apprenticeship working on these babys. Plenty of aftermarket goodies for these. Look at "Rare spares" in Aussie if you haven't already. Clean oil is really important for these engines as the oil flows back from the heads to the sump via draining over the camshaft. I've done plenty of new cams and lifters because of dirty oil. If it's a bit "clacky" in the top end then this is probably the start of worn cam lobes- Not terminal but new cam and lifters usually required. They run really smooth after that. Twin exhaust and a cross over pipe gives them a nice rumble.

I wonder if those chrome steels are still "sitting in the garage" and if they would fit the `Zon ?

Still got the penta star mags I bought for this but not 100% sure of the fitment. They were close enough to go on but could be Commodore sized

Update on this car, as i had sold it to a local Aussie who wanted to do it up, but i guess it was too much for him as it was then bought by a garage who took a few bits off it (guessing the engine, box, and LPG) to put into a recovery truck, and the rest of the car was crushed Shame to hear the old girl went this way, Really wished the Aussie that i sold it to had let me know, as i would have bought it back. Thats life though. R.I.P my Holden, i doubt i will get another car that felt just so 'right'
