Did a little search and we have a modern photography thread and a couple of threads about specific cameras, but couldn't find anything more suitable, so here it is: The retro/vintage photography thread! I'm completely new to photography of any kind, but I was recently given a mid 60s Regula Sprinty 'B' and an early 90s Nikon F50 SLR. Here's a couple of shots from the Regula I have since bought an early Zenit-E with a couple of lenses for £15, and I'm halfway through a roll with the Nikon, so I'll get some more photos up asap! So show us your pictures taken with retro cameras!

theres a thread somewhere with retro cameras but it turned out a lot of people have old cameras but don't use them... anyways i have them and use them so here are some of mine, probably posted them all before but what the hell. from a pentax 6x7 medium format. modern photo of an old camera, made to look like an old photo... lomo cosmic camera, slide film xpro kodak retinette 1b, redscaled film for added old look pentax me, also redscaled I'm very much into the old look on a photo, tend to make most photos look organically aged as best as possible or just leave it alone

Wow! Good stuff, the one with the Harleys is my favourite.
Have you tried using the Impossible Projects polaroid film? I've got a polaroid and the silver shade film comes out okay, the colour film just didn't work at all (just got a load of blue squares with a very faint outline of what I was taking photos of). At £2 per photo I can't afford to experiment much more with it. I've never heard anything good about that film...

I'm just not willing to spend out on stuff which is essentially not properly working and they havnt got right yet, so they make up hype and nice packaging to sell it. i see what they're doing and in that instance i would do the same. but if I'm going to be paying £20 for 8 sheets i want them to atleast work. besides i have 4 unopened packs of 600 polaroid film still to use which will work. ;D as and when though ill give it a go for sure, just hope it happens soon!

Lovin' all the pics on this thread, but this Goodwood shot is a real stunna. There's absolutely NOTHING about that picture that would make you think it's not in period. Lovely. I've taken lots of shots at various Goodwoods on old cameras over the years - nothing as good as yours though- I'll hve to get round to scanning them sometime (first, buy scanner...). Got a couple here from my old Yashica TLR : And Agfa rangefinder:

Got some more stuff scanned in. Shots from my Nikon F50 with some very expired (made in 1974) film that I found at a car boot sale. At the same car boot sale I picked up a 50s Kodak Brownie 127 which I've squeezed some 35mm film into and been taking some shots today. And one of those horrible cheap 'panoramic' film cameras (the kind that have a wide-angle lens and blank off the top and bottom of the frame). Both for 50p each. Also got a 30s/40s Baby Brownie but it's so small that to fit 35mm into it, it'll need winding out of the can and onto a spool, which I haven't got round to doing yet.

WOW, awesome retro look pics you got! what's great is that a lot of film slr's are now dwindling in prices, as nobody wants them anymore - zenith is quite a good brand, by memory some tough cold war camera! uhmm, let's play a game and see if anyone can guess the year this pic was taken!!!! take your chances... (ill' reveal the answer in 24 hours...)

id say very recent since the guy is holding a digital slr Wow good spotting, this was in holland over four weeks ago, so quite close- the film is quite grainy so I thought that would fool everyone in thinking this was sometime in the 90's

Some from a 1950s Kodak Brownie that I bodged some 35mm into. I got fourteen exposures from a 36exp roll, but they are much wider than normal: Took it to Jessops for D&P. I know they're curse word at printing (these are scans of the negatives), but there's no other camera shop in Coventry and at only £6.50 including a new 36exp colour roll, it's cheap enough for testing (I didn't know if these shots would come out at all). Asked the guy if he could cut the negatives by hand because the exposures wouldn't be regularly spaced - 'Yeah no problem, we have to do that sometimes' Go in and collect, and the sods have cut them halfway through the exposures. I ask about it and he says 'Cut by hand? No they just go through the machine. They get cut before they get printed. There's no way to cut by hand, we never have done'. Time to spend hours in Photoshop seamlessly stiching them all back together... They didn't print too badly to be honest. All the exposures are spread over two or three 6x4 prints, which I've sellotaped together and stuck in my album. The colours are off between the two prints, and the join is obvious, but that just adds to the charm (the 'charm' of curse word photos).

Thanks! I normally post them off to proper labs, but since Jessops is so cheap and it was just a test of the camera, I decided to use them instead. Although apparently Snappy Snaps are very good for a high-street place.
