oh no, now I'm going to have to dig out my old Beastie Boys CDs...
Common misconception that "its the mustang engine so it must be 260 BHP..." IIRC some years of that engine in the CROWN Vic makes only 190 BHP. I think 218 BHP is the top of tree for CROWN Vics.
There are options...
I've seen most of these done.
First off is the 300 BHP all alloy modular motor from the '05 and later Mustang. Not seen this done. Also there is the 5.4 liter supercharged Lightning motor and I've seen that done. I've also seen the V10 modular engine in a Grand Marquis. It has a custom twin turbo setup. Nice. Also also there is an alloy Lincoln version used in the MKVIII which has more power as stock and good tuning potential and some weight saving....
I *think* you can get the 200ish horse CROWN Vic motor up to 260 using the PI heads and various bits of Mustang if you can get them cheap but be aware the Ford Modular V8 has some of the trickiest parts interchangability problems out there!
