well where to start! got my estate about a year ago now, paid £825 for it with a knackered engine... this is her when I first got her home.. looks pretty tidy! looks were deceptive... so I started cutting out the rot, and replacing with new panels.. once I had completed this work, it became my daily drive for a few months until I decided what to do with her.. this is how she looked as my daily drive.. ill let you look over these pics before posting up more, so you can catch up to speed over a few days, instead of all at once n the thread becomes stale! hope u like!

well seeing as I'm picking up a new engine for it soon, ill put up a few more pics! ive taken it off the road for some modification and rectification work to be carried out, tucked up warm in my "workshop" lol new passenger floor in now to make these fit... picked up 5ft of this for the new turrets for a tenner.. nice fit, but not to close cut out the original rear turret offered up a section of pipe to get the dimensions right and to mark it up.. coilover in place and checking clearence issues..all good new turret cut out to shape and flanged ready to weld in.. a test to how the coilovers will look before welding.. new turret in, and top plate seam welded in also.. made up some srengthening plates just for extra precautions.. but also look pretty cool seam welded welds ground back but not fully, seam sealed and etch primed now the clubVAN name comes into play... i found a cut and shut mini van shell for sale for £100, i coulndt refuse it so took my angle grinder n dismantled the shell.. i was left over with several large panels including the van sides.. after lots of trimming, grinding and welding we end up like this.. thats it for progress on my estate, done alot since the new year! plan is to be ready for this years london to brighton run!

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

been pretty productive again today, got the subframe off so i can assess the heal board and also make it easier to do the sills with it on its side... here are some pics front subframe off first... just picked the shell up and over it, and swung the shell out the way... then the rear came off (only sheered one bolt.. considering what i found!) i then cut the oversill off to find the original sill underneath, glad i bit the bullet and did it now, it would only of reared its ugly head sooner or later! cut out most of the rot on the heal board and cleaned up the inner sill with a wire brush on the grinder! made a start on repairing the inner sill, got most of the holes welded up, just the heal board end and 1 or 2 small patches and thats the passengerside all finished! don't worry, the shell is supported both ends by scaffold poles to keep it from tipping back onto me lol

Wow, read through this thread thinking 'you're not hanging around' each time you posted a set of photos. Looks like you have no fear in tackling any areas of the resto. Thread bookmarked; will be watching with interest to see the finished car. What colour are you going for?

got my new indicators today in the post as well today, there from a toledo clubman indicator lense on the bottom, new complete toledo unit above, very very similar in design and size! and a fraction of the cost of one clubman indicator! with the added bonus of them having a rubber cover on the back to stop water from corroding the units out! some slight modification work the the clubman to get them to fit, but will be a subtle change that shouldnt go noticed, but only by the eagle eyed

here are pics if anyones actually bothering to read this lol I'm sure a lot of people are - I am - looking very good and you are going at quite a rate Quick related question how much is left of the van - my nephew is looking for a van floor to repair a 1978 Mini pick up that doesn't have a floor at all..............

i got a tight deadline for the build, as I'm planning on doing london to brighton in may! lol
i sold the load bed from the van the day after i cut it up (and for more than i paid for the whole shell!) to a bloke who also needed one for his pick up project, but i do still have some parts like the roof and bulkhead, although the bulk head is from a clubman?! so was obviously a cut and shut as there would be no doors in the world that would have fitted without drastic surgery.

I always wanted a Mini van but they are so expensive!
Might keep my eye out for a Clubman estate myself since I know where there's side panels lying on an old rotten shell.
