Excuse my second boring post in a day I will remedy this situation and give you something interesting to read soon promise!
Right, basically - it appears that the turbo gaskets and manifold gasket have started to blow on my ca18det - I fitted brand new Multi layer steel exhaust manifold gaskets, brand new Nissan nuts etc.. Basically I haven't skimped on gaskets or fixings! I has had a think and I reckon they're blowing because of my exhaust, it's 3" diameter, comes off the turbo goes under the floor and into a cherry bomb, along a bit then out as a side exit and I've fixed it to a solid bracket I've made using no rubbers. I can only imagine that the movement of the engine against the fixed solid exhaust has very very quickly worked the turbo etc loose? Sound feasible?
I could do with one of those braided flexy pieces even only 6 inches long or so - but with flange ends that would fit to a 3" pipe so that i can just cut a small straight piece out of the exhaust and then simply bolt in the flexy. Does this sort of universal thing exist? I can't find any that have the right ends on so I could slot it over the pipe both ends. The pipe on the car is external diameter 3" (76mm) so it'd need to be internal diameter 3" with the slots so I can sleeve it over both ends and clamp it? Does any of that make sense?
