the engine should be behind the bigger wheels, rad can be exchanged for a long narrow one and raised up, the real problem with chopping up the front end is the tie rods, their trailing, if they become a problem engineering them to be leading shouldn't be to hard.

I am doing this sort off thing to my 08 chevy kalos. I have used rubber spring helpers to jack it up a bit. I am going to look round the scrap yards to see if I can find some bigger springs to get it a bit higher
also I need to find some off road tyres
this is how I use to run it. corsa d lowering springs
till I put the standard springs back in with the helpers

Awesome,loads of space in the archs for chunky mud tyres! i think the kalos is based on the gm4400 platform, have a look around scrappys for opel meriva legs springs and dampers, according to wikipedia they share the same platform but the meriva is half a ton heavier, without that weight to pin the springs down you should have loads of ground clearance.
Since this thread started I've been looking at my Arosa in a whole different light! I did a sketch of it some time back and I suppose its always been hankering there since......nevermind the boat on top but I got carried away with the car a bit:
Wish I'd spotted this thread earlier! We just traded in the Matiz that was SWMBO's daily as it got stuck or grounded far too many times in the snow. Found a Kangoo Trekka which is slightly raised and 4wd but now I'm wondering about a bit of a lift and some proper off road tyres!
