FR light weight sport AE86 Levin and Trueno, called "Hachiroku", were introduced in 1983 for those who enjoy sporty driving . The AE86 is powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC 4A-GEU engine which is approximately 23kg lighter than a 2T-G engine. Two body styles of the AE86 were offered, a 2-door coupe and a 3-door hatch back coupe. Also the Trueno adopted pop-up headlamps. In 1985, there was a mild facelift for the AE86 with a new front design face, tail lights and bumpers. Also a AT model was introduced. They are INCREDIBLY popular... And expensive as a result for what they are. I was looking for one about 3 years ago to Road Rally, couldn't find one anywhere, and any I did see were knackered ex-stage cars costing a fortune.
When I started road rallying it was all Mk2 Escorts and Sunbeams, now it's Pug 205s, Mk2 Golfs and AE86 Corollas! Fewer and fewer Escorts these days...

Bloody hell this is all very tempting, difficult to find what they go for in the Uk though as there are so few being sold amoungst the Wanted Ads,.. Found one needing "Tlc" for £1,950 ,..
