How is it that people keep jumping on this whole , doom and gloom bandwagon about nothing good being posted. Yet threads that have decent stuff in, That applies to the whole point of this forum go un noticed. And people like pauldaf open a nice thread. Albeit a bit off the beaten track of usual RR threads. But that might not be a bad thing. It was a happy. Retro car related thread, Thats been locked for no reason?

Hey man, I tried with the grey motors.
What was the engine of choice for British drag racing in the 1960s? Anything local? Ford pre-crossflow? Jag six?

Wow, those are all awesome photos! Especially that Jag-powered funny car, that's amazing! I can't tell what car it's supposed to be, but it's awesome! I was going to wishfully suggest the Daimler V8 purely because it's such a cool motor, but I didn't think that they would've been commonly used because they're so small and rare! Since you have so spoiled us with those photos, I'll kick in one which I was reluctant to put in. A hard-charging FJ Holden called Capt. Nitrous is my favourite nostalgia drag racer. It's been rebuilt and renamed, but it is a genuine old drag car from the '60s and was once called Mr. Terrific. The current owner is very keen on keeping it historic and spent an enormous amount of money getting it to run flat 12s on the old Grey motor! I believe he eventually caved in and put in a later model engine before he went completely bankrupt, which caused it to run quicker but not quite so historically faithful. It certainly looks the goods! I love the lace paint in particular.

OMG! The coolness of that van with the flip-up body is just amazing. Did it actually run as a funny car I wonder?

Great pics! Love the old skool Santa Pod images, back in the days when the scene was so fresh. Nothing but a straight bit of tarmac in a field
