the styling leaves me looking for a glass of water and some mouthwash Yeah, I like the individual components but the whole thing together looks so wrong to me. As the owner of a very ugly car, I never usually comment on the looks of other cars because it's a subjective thing. Having said that, in the world of design there are rules and they dictate that this car is incorrect. In the interest of being positive, it is a great engine and I love E21s. I loved it before I saw the finished pics.

Can't fault the engineering. Tidily put together. I hate to be a b*tch, but yeah, the styling doesn't quite compliment the original. Oddly, I keep looking at the profile of the rear window and boot lid and think VW Jetta. I'm not knocking it, I just find it curious a BMW makes me think that.
Would I move out of the way if I saw it in the mirror? Hell yeah.

The wheels ruin it for me. The body-kit style I actually quite like, but it just looks rediculous with about 10 feet of clearance under those big ground hugging sills, and wheels that make the roof's profile look tiny. So close but so far for me unfortunately. Stick 17's on it and drop it to have 3" under the sills at most and I'd be creating a puddle of drool on my keyboard!
Love the idea of a silly aluminium V8 in an E21, but I really can't imagine it driving well with those wheels, they go completely against the suspension design's characteristics and all the fancy hubs in the world wont correct that.

Its a bit extreme but it ticks all the boxes for me! I really think it needs lowering some more! Top marks to the builder/owner ;D ;D ;D

I can certainly appreciate the work that's gone into it - must accelerate stupidly quickly too. ;D
However, I do feel that quite a lot less wheel, a little more tyre, quite a lot more lows, rear arches that flow into the rear bodywork a bit, and front arches that either meet the ledge under the grille or the top of the splitter (rather than some random point in the middle) would make it look a whole lot better.

I doubt the owner cares one jot about the aesthetic opinions; seeing as he plans to race the car, he's looking to add an undertray and rear wing. It'll look like quite the DTM racer.

Well believe it or not I actually saw this in the flesh today on the Croydon flyover! not quite the setting I'd expected to meet it face to face. So yeah it looked exactly the same as it did on the previous page. It's slightly better in the flesh, doesn't look quite as high up when it's on the road - but my opinion still stands. I doubt the owner cares one jot about the aesthetic opinions; seeing as he plans to race the car. I imagine Robin's point about the geometry is completely accurate and personally as a layman I'd say that if it's a race car it should have a little less unsprung weight. Smaller wheels and maybe a bit more sidewall? Anyway, don't want to bicker about the looks I was just dead shocked when I passed it in Croydon at about noon today (Yes that's right I passed it - in a Multipla ).

EmDee I am doubly shocked that I have never seen either you, or this car if you frequent places like the Croydon flyover. Definitely a good Croydon spot.
