I like E21s, me (well I've owned four of the buggers) but it's very rare you get to see one that been radically modded. Well take a gander at this brute, I think it falls into the 'radical' catagory. The car you see is a work in progress; it's taken over 2 years to get to this stage. The spec so far is mouth-watering: Power comes from a Chevy LS1 engine with Tremec T-56 6 speed 'box (the same as used on the Viper, Corvette Z06, SVT Mustang Cobra, Aston Martin V12 cars) with Mcleod magnum twin plate clutch, which is good for 600bhp. A 4130 chromoly one piece prop leads to a beefed-up 7-series LSD with 70/30 lockup and heavy duty bearings. To ensure this weapon of mass acceleration comes to a safe stop, it has 335 series Willwood pro discs all round, with Willwood 6 pot billet front calipers and 4 pots bringing up the rear. Body-wise, the top's been sliced by nearly 3 inches & de-guttered and a one-off custom fabricated body kit including arches, sills & front spoiler, all in steel. There's gonna be some more carbon goodies going on in the interest of lightness too, no doubt adding to the super-tuff look. Can't wait to see this when it's done.

Pure class. Really liking that. The Porsche boys have been long putting LS-1s into 944s. But this is really nice.
Makes a change from the usual M3 engine.

That looks ace! I'm surprised they didn't make the move to 5 stud hubs. Can't wait to see video's of it.

Fantastic,.. I wonder if it'll end up covered in race livery or sponsor stickers of some sort... would be a shame as it looks really smooth.

I wouldn't have been surprised if there was large parts of a newer BMW under there. Got to reading the rest of the build thread so far on E21.net - The suspension is still largely E21, he's having custom-made struts, driveshafts, stub axles and hubs made. , the diff looks like an E36 diff to me but he doesn't mention exactly what it is. The wheels are - wait for it - 10x18 front 13x20 rear 3-piece image split rims. Oh made a typo with the engine - It's an LS3, so that would mean 6.2 litres. he's looking at 553bhp and 495lb/ft. Gulp. Again going over the thread, it's looks like it will stay as it is body-wise, so hopefully he'll take our offer up of winging it down to German night at the Ace when it's done. The carbon bonnet may be the same one I've seen on eBay; a company in the States is making carbon fibre bonnets and doors for the E21, I've been tempted for ages to get a bonnet for my Luger project. This has 'RR Car Of The Year; written all over it to me.

Bodykit too boxy, wheels too big LOVE the engine tho Think it would have looked better with E30 M3\2002turbo style arches, and sensible sized wheels. 16" or something

Interesting to note that he's apparently using a flocked dash support bar as his dash. It's RHD too, so does that mean it's in the UK? Very impressive car. The arches are silly but I think it gets away with them.
