The NSRA guys have a free parts relay service. Various guys will fetch and carry stuff so if you happen to buy a gearbox off a guy in Swansea and you live in Birmingham and another guy is going from Swansea to Worcester and another guy is going from Worcester to Brum your box makes its way along with them to you.
Its a cool idea. Any ideas on us starting a similar service on here?

definitely - in fact mr RMAD has already offered his serices for me... I bought a tank (petrol!) off the bay and he kindly collected it and is arranging a courier ! cool ! (he did, however pick this petrol tank up in 1987 but I'm still very grateful ! )

It kinda happens already. I've fetched stuff for a number of folk, Folk have fetched stuff for me. Always happy to help Although what the residents of Kensington & Chelsea thought of two lads swapping a set of P-slots for a couple of hundred magazines at 4.30 in the morning I don't know!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Got summut similar in the ABS and Total Carlton works well - same old people getting involved but getting a full leather interior for a carlton estate, set of four wheels and a gearbox to scotland would be bloody expensiver otherwise
I'm kinda a bit out in the middle of nowhere here but offer is always the same
- Ebay listing look sees no probs - Local pick ups of parts bought of ebay
Go to london once a month so as long as you don't mind waiting a month I can at least get summut there

i don't mind making shortish trips around oxfordshire/northamptonshire.
or if theres a deadline to pick something up and you cant make it, i don't mind picking up something and storing it for a while untill you can make it

How longs a while and can you man-handle a medium sized engine?
I am (of course) available for picking up and dropping off as well. You can get a fair amount in an Oldsmobile's trunk... Sadly not this engine though.

depends how you want it stored/transported. transport would be in the back of a golf and the storage will be either a shed or garage. garage is cold and damp though
edit. might be able to persuade the parents to store it in the house downstairs. next to a radiator though, not sure if thats good or bad.
as for how long a while is: as long as you need in my garage, bout 2 weeks or so in the shed.

(he did, however pick this petrol tank up in 1987 but I'm still very grateful ! ) There's actually been progress today. The tank is packed (not very well, but it's packed!) and I weighed it - 15 kg. See, I'm not entirely useless.* *OK, yes I am.

easiest way for ths to work is to set aside a thread for each area (county?) listing those people willing to help out, then would know who you could ask collect something etc...
think that would work?
