Just had a PM on another site where I have posted a help wanted/cheap alternative seeked thread. This is to fetch back the BSA Bantam I was given by an unknown benefactor in Reading, as long as I collected. The guy who sent the PM is prepared to go with me with his pickup to fetch for the cost of fuel, as I do not have a company car with towbar anymore. I just looked at the thread I had posted and saw that he had a stolen car thread there as well, posted last night/this morning. THREAD LINK: www.medwaymonkeys.co.uk/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1848&p=12435#p12435For those who cannot be arsed to read that thread, this is the before and after pics. WHY ? It just saddens me that these scrotes would torch a Buggatti as much as a Corsa or a Jaguar E-Type. These guys also nicked an Astra at the same time and torched it alongside the Sierra. Take one clean, neat Sierra 4x4 and 4 hours later..... Hey Presto !!!

sadly the little sods realised that you can 'joyride' (stupid term) a car then if you torch it you get rid of your finger prints etc. Makes you wish the yobs had worn gloves instead

It always sicken me. Why do they do it ? Is it a thrill destroying someone elses property ? What is even more annoying is the penalty if caught is slap on wrist. It should be like any other theft ie if you steal a £10000 car then you are charged with the theft of that amount, as it is in the USA, and not the lessor "taking without consent". A mate used to be a prison officer dealing with young offenders until retirement. He says often the pond life that steal and torch cars take hundreds until caught. On claimed he'd stolen over 5000 vehicles most torched. That means he will have cost the owners and insurance companies millions yet just gets 18 months in a young offenders institute where they are treated better then most will have been at home. Paul H

Why is the bonnet bent back?
A little deterrent is to take the fuel injection fuse out of the fuse box, and it's easy to do, I do that everynight.

Why is the bonnet bent back Fire brigade gaining access to engine bay? Ford Sierras are not the most secure cars, on the MK2 you can defeat the immobiliser in 30secs using a pair of scissors don't think any Fords of that period were hot on security real shame to see

its bang out of order and very sadennign when this happens
my mums car a few years ago was attempted to be stolen, they couldnt defeat the immobilser, so they walked to the local petro station, nicked 4 disposable BBQ's and lit them all under the car to warm up the diesel, then watched as it all went up in smoke..
it was parked at the time 3 feet away from their house and as it burned it took the porch with it, luckily the fire brigade got there before the house went up
sickens me and saddens me seeing burnt out cars ever since
people that do this sort of thing (well crimes in general) should be treated with an eye for eye attitude..
my mum ended up having to move for fear of anything like that happening again

These little Runt's should be burnt at the stake!!
Seriously I genuinely believe that to perform that degree of wanton grose disrespect to another persons property the only firm deterrent would be a public burning..........
(fir brigade will have peeled the bonnet to disconnect the battery)

Worrying that threads like these across different forums are becoming more frequent.
Can't even begin to imagine the point in your life where you sink down so low as to gain enjoyment out of stealing/torching/vandalising someone elses property.
Beyond me, nevertheless, c-word.

I hate this.i just cant get over the tiny mindedness of some people, and that they think that its fine to take other's property, and then destroy it. The deterent of crime is being caught by the police, but the punishments given out are so weak, noones afraid of it, and as mentioned above, IF they get put away, often the facilities and 'lifestyle' inside are way better than being on the outside. Punishment should be 5 minutes in a room with the owner, who is furnished with a very large beating stick, and 5 years in jail breaking rocks in all and any weather. Those who abuse other's human rights, should not have any given.

Damn thats curse word... Its the sorta thing i worry about alot owning and old ish vauxhall....
don't know why they torch them tho. They do the same with motorbikes too. Why don't they just leave them so the the owner can have SOMETHING back. Wouldnt hold out any hope of the cops getting prints or dna anyway.. Its a car theft, They struggle to get dna or anything when a death is involved.

I had a "friend" that used to do this. His car of choice was Metros. He used to be able to get into them quicker with a screwdriver than I could with a key. (We tested this in Automotive Engineering at school with some metros)
His argument for taking metro's is that they were cheap cars and easy to replace. My point was, if they had the money to buy a better car, don't you think they would do?
Needless to say, I don't see him any more.

This always saddens me too,i had a skoda a long time ago that someone tried to nick, they couldnt get it going as they didnt realise the choke lever was between the seats so stuffed some newspaper under the seat and set fire to it,luckily someone saw it happening and phoned the fire brigade so by the time they got there it was only the drivers seat that was damaged too much...and by then full of water....it still started tho lol ;D

Horrible c**ts. As cars get more well equipped with anti theft devices its our beloved retros that are going to suffer, i once locked my key in my mr2 and after a ten min search on the internet i was able to gain acsess in around 30 seconds once i knew the trick.

Makes my blood boil. Having had my G reg escort stolen last year and "joyridden" i know how it feels, although my escort wouldn't have been worth as much (just a basic 1.3 model) it still hit me really hard as the car had been well looked after all its life only for some scum bags to destroy it in such a pointless manner. I hate threads like this

I hate threads like this I do agree with you, not liking threads like this, but I was so saddened and angered that I needed to both vent, and again make people aware that opportunists are always out there. The Madass I recently bought weighs about 100kg fully fueled, so one person can shove it into a van, alternately, a screwdriver is all the ignition needs. Using ones pride and joy or toy, loses a lot of its pleasure if you need to look over your shoulder the whole time.

Had it happen to me as well, they stole it, and then for some reason dumped it on a rail line. Why?
