I'm never sure how post worthy stuff I find is, however this jumped out at me! Okay it's modern but it's IMO so cool. Why do no manufactures do small pick-ups in the UK any more? They even did it with the Zetec-S engine in. Oh it's Brazilian. Potential? I think so!

Hope it is not seen as a hijack. Here are some other options too. VW Saveijo (Brazil) Opel Corsa - South Africa This Replaced by this OPEL CORSA UTILITY 1.8I SPORT The Corsa Utility is not only the most popular pick-up in the small bakkie segment of the market, it is also generally regarded as the bench mark against which other bakkies are measured. Not only does the Utility boast the most powerful engine in the segment – the fuel-injected 1,8-litre unit – but its payload of 840 kg is the best. As far as safety is concerned, the Utility is the only bakkie that offers both dual airbags and ABS brakes. The 1.8i Club is also the most expensive bakkie in the segment. Trucks & Heavy Equipment • October 2008 ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS Displacement: 1 796 cm3 Max power: 79 kW @ 5 400 Max torque: 160 Nm @ 2 600 Cylinders: 4 Transmission: Five-speed manual FACTS AND FIGURES Wheelbase: 2 714 mm Payload: 840 kg Fuel capacity: 50 litres Wheels and tyres: 14-inch, 185/65 R14 Safety and luxury features: Dual airbags, ABS brakes, central locking, electric windows, air-conditioning, power steering Warranty and service: three years/100 000 km; three-year anticorrosion. Services every 15 000 km Price: R159 810 The Corsa Utility range consists of nine models and buyers have a choice of three engines: 1,4- and 1,8-litre petrol and 1,7-litre turbodiesel. Prices range from R92 450 for the 1.4i Utility to R163 810 for the 1.8i Utility Sport. CLASSIC Nissan 1400 - made until very recently in South Africa Replaced by this. AND WHAT HAVE WE HERE ?? Peugeot has revealed a pick-up with a 750 kg payload and a 207 face… Like South Africa, bakkies are big in Brazil and Peugeot has answered to this call with the introduction of the Hoggar. Designed in Brazil for its local market, Hoggar is an extension of the 207 line alongside the hatchback, sedan and station wagon. The company hopes to garner 10% of all pick-up sales in Brazil this year, with Hoggar providing the main thrust, of course. The adorable little bakkie has a load volume of 1 151 litres and a payload of up to 742 kg. It launches in Brazil in May with three trim levels and a choice between 1.4- and 1.6-litre engines. While it seems an interesting proposal, the carmaker will restrict Hoggar sales to the Brazilian market for now.

A chap down the road has just bought a Dacia Logan pickup. I reckon it is quite smart looking.. There is a van variant too, which I like..... Some mods.... EDIT linked due to massive pic..... liviu95.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/dacia-logan-pickup-virtual-tuning.jpgI think the commercials wold look a lot nicer with the saloon/estate's body-coloured front bumper and grill.... get this stance from the saloon on the commercial versions for win.... Its a potatochopof the estate, but the potential is there....

Bit like a fat bird in the sack, riding a scooter or farting at school assembly Dave...... no one actually wants to admit to it. But I will sat that I do like it. Personally the green modded one does it for me, and I would prefer the silver one as it is.

Why do no manufactures do small pick-ups in the UK any more? Vans are more practical with our climate. In the 1990s Ford sent some experimetal electric versions of the Escort van to the US (California iirc) and the response to them was "Put a proper engine in this and it would be a really useful vehicle, why don't we get them here?" Have another South African bakkie, the Ford Bantam.

Why do no manufactures do small pick-ups in the UK any more? Because they're not particularly practical given our weather? Or possibly, to make those people who do have them too be more unique and therefore And why hasn't anyone done a Renault Espace pickup?

I was in my 1200 pickup (Japanese import) last night at the Ace. They sold thousands of 2dr, 4dr, wagon, and coupe 1200s in the UK , but not one pickup! They'd have kicked marina's butt I tell you.
