Erm, nothing too glam. I want to protect the stuff I've got in storage and I've got a plan to cover my transit in it and turn all the little scabs into 'sunburnt' patches instead. Cheaper than a respray at this time and it'll keep it solid through summer... If I could find some lowering blocks big enough, I'll lower it and paint the steels black too. My try some house bricks... hmm

good thread! That collinite stuff looks interesting. Have you tried it MWF? Looks like it could be a good option for folk who don't really like polishing their cars (i.e. me), if it offers a decent protection over an extended period of time it could be worth the investment of ££ and elbow grease.
Is the ankor wax a liquid? Can it be thinned down and sprayed? Or is it a hard sort of wax. All interesting stuff.

good thread! That collinite stuff looks interesting. Have you tried it MWF? Yeah me and some mates have been using if for quite a while. It's great wax for a daily driver or a concours car driven in winter. It will resist pretty much anything for a long time. Good shine too.

Does the Ankor Wax scratch off easily? I've never seen it close-up. I'll wait for the sea salt to ravish the Benz a bit more and then sling some of that stuff over it I reckon!

Sounds good to me!!! So I've just bought some off 'war-on-terrorism'-bay, 25 dollars delivered, dunno if thats cheap or not. Probably not in view of the fact that it will inevitably be all smashed up and have half the contents missing by the time it gets here, if indeed it does ever arrive. What have you ordered? Collinite? If so bask in this home made video a friend made, demonstrating it's water dispersing ways, the chicks dig it.

Mr B, Ankor wax is like a liquid, it's best if you heat it before you apply (kinda like clear waxoyl I guess)
BenzBoy, it's plyable and soft, like candle wax (but more "greasy", and suprisingly hard to get off.
I usually pour some into a hubcap and use a rag to work it into the van (before I've cleaned it usually, to seal the "patina").
Yes. the van really is a mess, and I like it that way.

Found this here on the web some time ago. I`ll have to test it someday methinks
Here is a recipe for home made "Waxoyl". It's an old fashioned rust treatment / undercoating:
2 1/2 quarts turpentine 12 oz. beeswax / candle wax 1 quart light machine oil
With a cheese shredder, cut the wax into the turpentine, stir until the wax has dissolved, (takes a long time; you can use very low heat (a warm room) to aid but be careful) and thin with the machine oil to a brushable / sprayable consistency. Apply liberally. You can use a hand spray bottle to get into closed-off sections if you have a small access hole.

Yeah I've ordered some collinite doublewax stuff.

Right, not sure which to go for now, that Collenite (sp?) stuff sounds very good too. More wax like, than say Anker wax... Just wondered cap', when it's on the vehicle, does it partially rub off when you touch it? Leave waxy deposits on your Mum etc? Actually same for that Col stuff too MWF? What I'd ideally like is something I can put on with a cloth like car polish, leaving a thick protective coat that's not going to mark anything it comes into contact with...

Cool, have bought some Heavy Duty Paste Fleetwax, because this one presented itself as being the most commercial of the products, which for some reason not apparent to me now seemed to be the way forward. ;D Many thanks...
