No angle grinder?!?! But how do your springs get cut. Lmao.
So, here's a question chaps. Fed up of paint stripper being useless, mega cross-spoke style wheels, a disc won't get in any of the nooks and crannies, nor will a Dremel (or just my dremel, it's curse word.) Shot blasting/bead blasting seems to be the way forward.
My question is, I want to polish the lips, but get the centres powder coated. Polish the lips before sending them in and just cover the lips for the blasting/powder process? Kidnap tape around the lips or something, will need sticky residue cleaning off after, but seems less work than polishing up from a blasted finish... Also reduces the risk of my butter fingers wrecking the finish on the fresh powdercoat... Or get them blasted, then powder coated and then polish the lips...
Everything else I've ever sent to be powdercoated has literally been a "Bung it in the oven and it's done" job, without any posh shiny bits, hence the potentially daft questions... Thanks guys.

Oooof to those trans am wheels.....sexy!!! Regarding the sebrings I'm going to attack, I'd like to have everything but the face black, so I'm thinking of painting from behind and taking some care not to get any on the face, then polish the rim and face of the spokes. Is this the way I should do it, or should I polish first then mask and paint? Ps they don't have to be perfect.

Personally i'd just paint the black bits then polish the face. The abrasives you'll use to start the polishing process will remove the over spray in 2 secs so don't worry about it. Also makes it easier to get a nice sharp edge from polish to paint.

Also makes it easier to get a nice sharp edge from polish to paint. Thats what I thought. Next question, do I need to strip the clearcoat first, or just go at it with the grinder?

I'd strip it first, but i also personally wouldn't use a grinder for polishing either.

With the bevel discs they will take of any paint/clearcoat so you don't need to strip it 1st Pm me if you want some discs

I've got dished wheels that have been painted white, if I just wanted to remove the white paint and go back to polished metal, is there a head I can get for my grinder that would just remove the paint and leave me with a polished surface?

The discs will take the paint off and get the alloy ready for polishing so ul still have to polish them again. It will still be much quicker than slowly taking the paint of by hand. If you want some discs pm me

Origional VW Sebring After 5minutes with the bevel wheel after 20 mins with the bevel wheel I had started removing the paint around the edge, but using the edge of the bevel wheel, almost visably wore it down. I've taken a good inch off of it, just on one wheel! I've now painted the wheel black and polished the face again. Thing is not too sure now if they'll suit a slightly ratty golf?
