I haven't done anything like that, I've used it through 3 winters now with no adverse effect. It's probably something I should look into though... There's a couple of 924's in Cardiff now and we had a little meet-up this evening:

It looks lovely I must say as it is now.
What is the information regarding the Beige 924 in your shot. It certainly looks great. I shall not lie in saying that upon seeing a very early 924 the other day, they do look quite appealing. The difference a bit of chrome trim can make eh?

Order 2 bottles of this: www.bilthamber.com/dynax-s50There will be grommets allowing you access to your sills (you may need to pull away a bit of carpet, not sure on the 924. It may have had waxoyl/dinitrol in the past but these do fail with time. You won't regret the £30

That rear camber on the beige one is to die for. Amazing looking cars, all three of them right there!

That's a great picture, especially they way they get lower (or higher) the further down the line you go. Did these ever come with a different coloured bumper? I can just imagine yours and the beige one having black plastic bumpers in that picture and it looking like a factory option box that had been unticked.

AFAIK the front bumpers were always body coloured. The rear bumper strips were always black but a number of people did repaint them to body colour over the years .

Surprising just how much higher the standard ride height was. Still think those Zender rims would be awesome.

I love your 924 Felix, modifications have been done with a lot of taste!
And that beige 924, it's just outstanding. As in it stands out.

I think the beige one has a build thread over on edition 38. I wish I'd kept my 944 s2 for more than a day now!

Thanks for the comments as ever! Mark, I sold those Zenders for the same £60 I paid for them and regret it everyday Some people remove the rubbing strips and black, but I don't think it would work on my car. Here's a 924S I photographed with that look: I picked up a bike rack for my roof bars and tried it out of course! I'm doing a little Euro cycle tour with my girlfriend at the end of next month and could take the car maybe? Although she has a Kayak, which is surely the ultimate lifestyle accessory? Sunroof still has space to go up and down and lift out, even with a bike on the top! My troubles have continued sadly, with my alternator being a bit temperamental. Luckily, it seems this was just a loose earth connection and since I tightened it up, the voltage is strong. Earlier this week the car wouldn't start again, I suspected a flat battery after my alternator woes, so turned up with another charged and ready but alas, no start. I called the AA and the patrolman recognised me & the car!! Infact, he came to it when the starter motor broke. Same again. Paying the labour last year to fit a used one turned out to be a false economy. With the 924 National on Sunday I really wanted it fixed. The indy that does my MOT and big jobs I can't muster managed to get a starter overnight and fitted it for me. £267 poorer, I was at least able to arrive at Coventry Transport Museum in a 924.. Oh and this one is back in action, can't wait to photograph it! It was a great venue for it and there were a lot of projects ready for it. Most surprising was the total of 11 road going 924 Turbos, which are the rarest of all and outnumbered the 2.0 and 2.5 n/a cars. My car did look conspicuously daily hack against the rest ha! I got re-elected onto the committee again to do the publications, so I can keep working on the magazine amongst other things: With the starter motor and tax up at the end of the month, my wheel money is gone again, so plans for the rest of the year are just to keep running it. Obviously I'll do my best to improve it further...

Another little update now: The front wheel bearing went from functional to howling in about 20 miles, so that's getting replaced. I've built up a good relationship with Porsche Cardiff and so a few more bits to tidy & refresh have been ordered. When I bashed the front valence, it also tore a steering gaitor and bent the anti roll bar mount. The gaitor, bushes & ARB parts are only pocket money. I'm getting some new hatch struts for the rear too, since mine are very weak. A few bits of interior trim are on their way too. The driveline is quiet shunty, ideally I'd like to have this remedied at a later date. Oh and I'm still lusting after wheels! Most of all, I'm looking forward to driving it again with all those new bushes and a good service!

After all that, these came up for sale tonight just up the road from me for a very good price. Collecting them on the weekend. I lose an inch of sidewall, should make the car look a bit lower and handle a bit better, and being a factory option, insurance friendly.

Liking the alloys. Saw the 2 tone track car at Castle Combe a couple of weeks ago I think? It looked really nice in the metal. When my numbers come up I still think I'd like another 924. In fact, if I could find XAR391X I would be tempted to try and buy it back now.

They are a great choice of wheel for the 924 I must say out of the stock wheels . One thing I do have to ask is if your ARB mount is squashed or is that an illusion of the photo?

Superbean - Yes I've seen it with the 17" Fuchs, it looks amazing! Mark - Yes that's the one. A lot of work has gone into it. Under the bonnet it's no ordinary 924 Turbo: ChasR - I'm getting the wheels refurbished in all silver with black bolts. The Turbo's had the lattice wheels without the black detailing and I think they look fine: The arb mount was squashed and the steering gaiter ripped. The tyres on the new wheels are 205/60/15 and currently I have 185/70/14, which I hope will have a positive effect. I have the car back now and it drives very well! A full service, all new fluids, front wheel bearings, new ARB bushes and mounts, steering rack regreased with new gaiters, brakes adjusted, exhaust fettled and a full alignment! I fitted the new hatch parts too, it takes some force to close it now, instead of it falling on my head! Tidied up the interior trim too, replacing any worn items. The workshop manager at Porsche drove it, came back beaming and said it was lovely. They seem genuinely enthusiastic for it! The engine is sweet at 142k and the handling is immense! The turn in is amazing and then there's the balance of the chassis. The car has never felt so good and it feels like after a couple of years ownership it has gradually reached this point, so a big thanks to everyone who has helped! It's not quite wanting for nothing, the leather on my steering wheel has come apart, is it worth getting it recovered? Or should I save up for a Momo Prototipo or something similar? The bodywork lets it down too, but that doesn't worry me. I did pull the front valence out with some molegrips though. Without sounding too car proud, it's got to be the tightest daily driven 924 NA around. It's a testament to the cars that it drives the way it does with 142k on the clock after 29 years on the road.

Updates like this make me relieved that you didn't end up parting with this car in the end. It really has been worth keeping hold of by the sound of things.

Little update of bits & pieces I've done lately: Cut out old headlining neatly and glued in the rubber insulation, not going to bother with new lining, looks good enough. Got a glovebox for £2 off ebay to replace my ripped old one. Added a momo steering wheel from an MX5. Same diameter and in perfect condition. Will cash in the 3 spoke Porsche one on eBay. Painted the sills, my hand, legs and one of my shoes black. Meanwhile Ben makes a point of buying the spray can at the back and applies paint neatly where wanted. Two of my spiderweb wheels are refurbished to mint condition and the other two aren't quite done yet. They'll look superb on my car even if they show the rest of it up. Feels a bit wrong to run them daily through the winter but oh well! And the Cardiff Crew:
