...as if by magic, a rubbish new flowchart appeared: There will be some exceptions (don't expect a knackered 1994 Shogun, BMW E36 or Lucida to stay in the Cars for Sale section for long) but it might help a bit!

So as the first post was put up in December 2010 with a cut off date for cars up to and including 2000, surely this means that cars up to and including 2002 are now eligible . As it is 2013.

Surely this means that cars up to and including 2002 are now eligible Sadly not. Selling cheap everyday cars wasn't really the intention of the RR for sale section. Although the popularity of the NPIBOT2 section suggests it is a welcome bonus for many members (and only-here-to-sell-their-Mum's-shonky-old-Fiesta-for-free members too), the section is only there to keep the 'proper' retro cars for sale section clear of (mostly) boring tat. 2000 still seems like an appropriate (and neat) cut-off to me.

Have just read down the comments from fellow 'RR' follower one thing has come out as good idea worth further consideration in establishing an extension to regular for sale forum.
All cars in the new' Budget' or 'Bargain Ad's' forum to have a ceiling price of £1000.
This basically points on in the direction of budget resto projects or parts. Just my thoughts.

Welcome to the board Eugene and thanks for the comments.
That said, I think the two sections are working (relatively) well as they are...a 'cool old cars' bit and a 'other old(ish) cars' bit. Simples.

I like it from the point of view that it's good for us RR people to find a run around from people that we tend to trust on here. Also if I sell a car in the 'budget' section it's usually to fund a retro project!

All old motors are projects to some extent!!! There's just no need for a 'project' category.

A small adjustment has taken place. The 'Not particularly interesting but older than 2000' sales section has been renamed to become the 'Not particularly relevant to RR but older than 2000' sales section.
This is to reflect that there are cars that are interesting, but not necessarily the most relevant cars to Retro-Rides. For instance, an 1998 BMW M3 is certainly an interesting car, but isn't really what RR is all about. Equally, an lovely big bargain barge like a Jag or an S Class Merc is interesting, but unless it's tweaked (in the right way) it's not really what we're all here for.
Sure, there's lots of members who enjoy cars just like those examples, but it's not at the core of this place. Thanks for understanding. :-)

Well spotted Noz, thanks. I suspect the depths I'd have to dig into the mechanics of the forum to sort that out mean it'll stay that way for quite a while!

Hiya Rmad
i was just wondering if there would be an extension (or a additional section) for cars up to 2005 maybe?
There are lots of cars which are bargin basement at this age now - and potential future classics!

Hi Kaz,
There is no extension planned. The RR Classifieds section is supposed to be for cool old cars, the fact that the section created to shunt all the boring newer curse word into is useful for picking up daily drivers for many could be considered a bonus...but it's not the real goal. :-) I guess those cars will have to carry on being bought and sold on Autotrader, Ebay or Gumtree.

A slight amendment to the rules:
X registered 2000/2001 cars are now allowed. This is not because of any rolling age limit, merely because the moderators can't be bothered to run all X plate cars through a DVLA check! (X plate cars haven't actually been checked for a while, but a recent spree of super-correct reports has forced my hand slightly).
No need to lie about your 2000 2001 X plate cars anymore people! :-)

Any chance of having an new section for car traders (i.e. companies) - ive just had a look at the cars for sale section, and on the first page there are 3 adverts from KGF1, and 5 from autoinvestca ltd alone!

Should of read the small print, title is X reg or older, being pedantic should be W Reg or older.
I'll get my coat.......I get bored of reading the main terms, and then finding the small print is different.
Now I understand why add was deleted. Sorry for my mistake.

Miaspa The title isn't wrong, the deletion of your ad was a mistake, sorry. The original cut-off was 2000, but it was extended to include all X reg cars because there was no quick way of know whether an X registered car was a 2000 X or a 2001 X. Thus, to save moderating hassle all X reg cars became legit. Unfortunately, in the case of your ad (and through not fault of your own), the delete key was pressed a bit hastily! Oops. Feel free to re-list your ad - in the Not Particularly Interesting section, obviously.
