I want to introduce my daily car, a Polo MK II breadvan, 55 BHP injection. It´s been running reliable since almost 20.000 miles in my ownership. I have bought it from the first owner for 120 Euros. I know, the colour is not everybodys first choice, but I love it like that. I would not call it a rat, because I don`t want to press my car in any kind of style. I´ve had about 40 cars so far and what I know for sure ist that I always loved them the most, when they were polished before painting. So the car is painted in several mat colours and always polished again. The roof is still under construction ;D cheers, wrecksforever

Of course I want to keep it as long as possible. These Polos are still cheap in Germany and in my opinion underestimated as reliable daily cars. To make sure to get alle parts immediately and cheap, I´ve bought a Coupe with the same engine (motorcode NZ) and put it in storage in my garage for the next years: To park another car in front I´ve cut it in 2 pieces: So no more problems with all the parts in boxes. Everything is easy to find and I´ve kept all parts for possible welding sessions too. ;D cheers, wrecksforever

wierd how europe got injection mk2 and we didnt I didn`t know you had no injections in the UK. Motorcode for mine is NZ, in my opinion the best motor, strong enough and economical. Had another breadvan from 1983 with carb and only 40 bhp, which took much more fuel. What about the facelift breadvans, which were built from 1990 till 1994? Still no models with injection? cheers, wrecksforever

I thought the LHD mk2 injection models got a servo? The only reason why they didnt put them on the RHD mk2 carb models is due to lack of space with the RHD bulkhead.
We really missed out in the UK with mk2 injection models. They did a mk2 G40 as well which we didnt get.

No rhd mk2 got a servo or injection.
Although that said, People did manage to get mk2's with injection by ordering a german mk2 GT in RHD format from a german dealer..
More than a few over here like that..

Good fun things, I'm looking forward to getting out and about in mine in 2011. They carry the scruffy work-horse look really well, I suppose since that's what they're good at.
Enjoy your Polo for as long as possible!

Sorry lol i misread your post, thought you meant mk2s in general never got a servo. (LHD and RHD). You mean RHD mk2s never got a servo, but RHD mk3s got injection and servos.

Nice to read there are some breadvan lovers in the UK too :-)
We call the Polo MK 2 Polo 2 and the MK 3 (1990-1994) Polo 2F (2 Facelift). Apart the servo, which was put inside in the early 80ies, the standard of LHD and RHD Polos seems to be the same.
The very first injection here was the G40 in 1985, the more popular was the 1,3 injection with 55 bhp in 1987.
Have fun with your Polos in the snow! Mine is a safe and reliable runner in these conditions every day!
