Hey there,
I am on the lookout for an auto box from a Carlton (1.8 or 2.0 I believe) or from a V6 Omega - must be in good working condition.
If anyone has one, please let me know. Ideally close to Bristol or Essex, but can possibly arrange collection if in other areas.
Many thanks,
Bruce.

Hi, not sure what year or whatever you're after, but I have a 'box from a Royale 2.8 which should fit the carltons/sennys of the same era and possibly later ones, it came from a car with genuine 35K but had been stood a while, if you can fetch it when I'm around then you can have it for frees. PM me if it's what you want.

Many thanks for the offer - I've sent you a PM Just for reference, in case anyone on here knows any different, from my research I don't think it'll fit. I think I need one from the 4cyl Carlton because I'm looking at mating it up to the 4cyl 1.7 Isuzu TDi engine found in the Astras and Cavaliers. From what I have found out, the 6cyl boxes don't fit the 4cyl engines (different bellhousing etc...) If anyone does know any different, or knows of a suitable 'box, please let me know?

Sorry don't know of any but for your info the Isuzu engine matches the Vauxhall bellhousing not the Opel one.
Carltons over the years had both Vaux and Opel engines fitted. The 1.8 and 2.0 OHC engines are Vauxhall fit so the gearboxes will fit,
The 2.0 CIH, 2.2 CIH or 3.0 12v or 24v are all Opel so won't fit. You could also use a Manta 1.8 autobox if you could find one as they are also Vaux fit RWD

MantaSport, many thanks for the info. Most of it confirms what I had found out but it's just nice to see it all there listing every one that will & won't work.
Si, thanks for the PM and the chat on the phone. I'm even more excited now...especially if you can find that 'special item' at work ;D

No worries, thanks for enquiring anyway. I've updated the original post because I've since found out that the Omega V6 auto box should fit too....this widens my search and hopefully gives more chance of finding something. (thanks to B8D's knowledge of these things ) Thanks again.

Many thanks, Bruce. Bruce one word of advice - get one from a car you can still drive - all the Opel/Vauxhall Auto boxes do not take kindly to storage - seriously

Thanks guys.
Ian, is it lack of use that isn't good for them? Finding a running Carlton auto which is being broken is going to be quite a challenge! I'm guessing the Omega auto will be a better bet?
I'll get looking but in the meantime, if anyone comes across one, please let me know.
DollyDrifter, how long has yours been out of the car? Also, how much are you looking it sell it for please?
