Mine's auto but jaminben's is manual, so info's all good.
Jaminben have you got that nice dash then, with the round gauges and 'merkin sort of styling? Saw a piccy of one like that, pretty sure it was a 64.

Sussed mine except for a PO addition (I guess), far right of the dash, with a light, haven't figured out what its for. Also a red wire waving about in the bay. The joys of PO wiring...

Has it got an adjustable steering column like the Rapier version ? You unscrew the steering wheel centre to unlock.

Still one of the nicest period dashes out there ( Mk 2 Sceptre ) I run a Mk2 steering wheel on my A pick up If you take a look at the Rootes ranges there was some very clever styling going on producing a multitude of models from one basic shell. Some nice tricks of the eye on wheelbase / bootlid length later on.

Hope you have great fun with your 'Rootesmobile' There are plenty of spares for mechanical bits & some panels. The top engine mod is to go with the Holbay racing conversion these use the twin 40 webbers. mostgo down the twin stromberg route. They come up regularly on ebay mainly under 'Sunbeam Alpine'

I'll just leave this here... What ever it is it isn't Rootes..... looks like it's a conversion from a transverse engine fitted car going by the location of the distributor, and the cambox lid looks similar to the 1800cc vauxhall, the predecessor to the 16v unit. Could be in a Rootes car though.

Nice one mattblack... Dodgealpine, nice, will have a longer nose at your site this eve.
I'm thoroughly liking the little Minx, done sterling service so far in the snow and cold. Off now to peer underneath for the leaks... ATF on the garage floor...
Jaminben - your rear wheels, do they have a grease cap on the hubs do you know? My fronts do but rears don't...

Hey Bob the Fish, I can only find grease nipples on the front on mine, seems a bit odd the front do but rear doesnt. My minx has been going like a dream but deffo think an engine change is coming in the summer. Just trying to find what looks best. That nove engine fits in nicely mattblack, what clutch did you use? And what year carlton? Also whats it like to drive?

Bob the - will we see this at A52 this weekend? Haven't been in one since my old mans spares car (I jumped it into the lockup wall - I was 8) tatty paint isn't a problem, just roll it and take a proper look when the weather improves - be prepared for a lot of tin worm though as these do go badly once they start.
JaminBen - if you're looking at O/D upgrade - I believe the gearboxes are a defferent length, so you'll need the corresponding propshaft to go with it...... and the wiring is a doddle to do.
Nice cars - good luck with them
