Hi Will, I just missed you when you and Steve called at the unit and saw my 164. Anyway, I'm sure we'll get to meet up soon. Very impressive job you've done on the engine bay - I like the attention to detail. And those wheels look fantastic considering what you started with! A specialist metal treatment company would be able to get those carbs looking like new, but be really careful who you use. A a "normal" shotblasting place (used to doing truck axles etc) would completely ruin them. As an alternative, you could try using some acid and a toothbrush. Try alloy wheel cleaner first. If that doesn't work, try some paint stripper, but do a small area at a time and don't leave it on too long. Keep up the good work on the car! Hopefully I can call and see it in the flesh sometime. Cheers John Hi john! Thanks mate, yeah it's slowly getting there.Iv heard alot of things about your 164 since steve's been giving you a hand, And wow iv got to say very impressive ! Do you know of any good places where I could get the carbs done as if anything is going to compliment the bay it will be them. You and steve should call down one weekend he's usually giving me a hand any way when he isn't winging about something . Sorry steve! Thanks mate Will. Will, thanks for the feedback, and yeah we'll call in sometime soon. I don't know of anywhere for the carbs, but I'll ask around my friends. The place I used in Dewsbury was cheap, but a bit too 'industrial' for your carbs... they thought my Volvo cross-member was a small delicate item... In fact, you could try a 'recommendations wanted' ad on the general section of this forum John

The Midas Touch in Castleford will be best for blasting the carbs. If you explain what you want Trev will go steady on them so they don't get damaged.

If it is the same place I'm thinking of i got my old kart chassis powder coated there and was mega chuffed with the result. Thanks for your input matt! Will.

Cracking work, think you're following a similar build ethos as me "do it once, do it right".

It was good to meet you Will and see the car - and I don't think you need many "tips"! Now I've seen it, I'm even more impressed, so keep up the great mix of high standards and a fast work rate. But are you sure you guys wern't drinking after I left?? Cheers John
